The knock sensor is for detecting detonation, and backing off the timing till it goes away, thus protecting your engine. If at all possible, I'd keep em.

Personally, I wouldn't. The knock sensor can't tell the difference between a really bumpy road and engine knock. Just chuck them and don't push the limits of your tune.

Also ... what were the little problems that you repaired that kept it from starting for so long?

PM me you contact number please. It looks like I may finally have some time this weekend.

Oil pressure ended up being the switch. So I replaced it, and shes running good now. The starting problem also was a sensor. the crank trigger sensor. replaced that, and good to go. what are you doing this weekend?

what other boards are you on in Houston?

Who is using comp 262 ah cams and what do you think of them? Not my #1 choice but if I do something I need to find used... I'm debating 3v swap vs. some SVO heads I can get new for around $800....

I'd think the 262's are too mild for the cost. I have the 270's and they're a really mild cam on a 5.4 IMHO. There's a lope but it's not that much. After 00blackstanggt finishes scraping my chin spoiler on my driveway you can hear a little of the idle chop here:

Think 5000 lb F150 and ~$300 used.....

Hitech Stage II's would still be my first choice, but I won't have $600 for new cams, and the SVO heads if I get them will skew the requirements after I port them as they will have a stronger intake port flow than my mildly ported PI's.....

Here is mine with the 270 cams as well. This is my initial startup with open exhaust manifolds, so its a bit loud... but you get the idea of the lope its got.

headers are done, finally got my car out of the header-jail and back to TPS for install and tuning. Damn near had to bring the cops out before they'd come down to their own shop and let me have my ****.

Pics of the headers and a video/sound clip of it running right off the bare shorty headers:

o hey guys, if anyone is interested i have a NOSzle kit NIB completely un removed from the plastic packaging etc with a 10lb bottle i'm selling to put towards the fab work for my turbo piping(cost 1529+s&h from summit) it's one of the best and most effective nitrous set ups you can run on a mod motor(takes up way less room than 8 piranha nozzles and doesn't require drill/tap). It's what i was going to use on my motor but my motor until i could afford a turbo set up but with just 9:1 cr i decided it wasn't worth taking the kit out of the packaging and putting it on a motor that already had a 150 plate on it when it really needed atleast factory compression ratio...on a built 10:1 or higher 5.4l with ported heads and the right cams this kit with a 2nd stage will run like a raped ape

you can jet it for as little as like 70hp to max 300 hp with the current lines etc. and with upgraded lines and and dual solenoids you can run way over 300 shot without the risk of pooling that you have with plates/single nozzles over 150 shot

also have a seperate brand new airtex inline efi fuel pump that can supply over 300whp by itself if you want to run a stand alone fuel set up with a 1 gal fuel cell and race gas for the nitrous(good idea at any nitrous level, pretty much a necessity at over 200 shot)

i'm asking 1100 shipped for the kit out right, will consider trades + cash if you have things i need for my turbo build

looking for aeromotive regulator, fuel tank sump, intercooler and potentially other stuff

Quick update on my status...

Motor still not here yet Of course we have 14 inches of snow on the ground, so I really do not want to go to the cold garage to work on the car anyway... SVT Lighting Eaton should be here next week. Just need some more parts so that I can throw it on! I am soo excited!

Wow R3d, those are BA looking... well they better be for the $ you had to drop on them. I think I just found what my project for next winter will be... making my own set. I am going to also go as far as designing them up myself in CAD because I have access to those files at work I will probably make them from 1.625" to gain a little more pakage room though.

I'm not on any Houston boards but I'm on IMBOC alot. I own 2001 BULLITT DHG 1276. I'm actually over in Pasadena. My internet has been down for about 2.5 days and ComCast just left after getting us back up and running. I think they're going to have to re-install the whole line at the pole (they did a new line from the pole to the house today). Disaster remnants from Ike, I guess.
