They will bolt on. You just need a set of solid cam gears from a V10, or the MMR VCT delete kit that includes solid gears. And I assume that 2v's and 3v's use the same chain setup, but I could be wrong.

it will. mine was hitting the shaft so i unbolted it and pulled it out of the way. now that the motor is sitting down in the car the shaft clears it. plus ill get about another inch to an inch and a half when the motor mount stud sits in the proper spot

Did you pull any ground straps when you were messing around down there? (if these cars have them.)

Is it turning over but not starting? or not turning over at all? Double check that every thing is hooked up, and give it alittle gas(pedal-wise) when you're turning it over, mine was a bitch like that for awhile.

Hey guys, quick question. I am not getting oil pressure reading.

I put a new oil pump on the 5.4 when I installed it. ONe other thing I did was put the 4.6 oil filter and lower radiator hose assmembly with sensor on the 5.4. Should I have left the 5.4 assembly on it? WOuld that have anything to do with it? Possibly a port to the sensor not mating up?

I dont know which one you have but more than likely you cant use the 5.4 oil filter adapter anyway, the one I had wouldnt clear. But that shouldnt have anything to do with it, have you verified that you have oil pressure?

I am assuming that plug on that housing is for oil pressure right?

where do you manually check oil pressure at on this motor? Can you think of anything I may have done during the swap to actually cause this problem? Or would you think it is a false issue?

I am not getting any codes or lights for oil pressure low, or sensor not working

Other than attaching a mechanical oil pressure gauge to the stock location, I dont know of any means of checking oil pressure. The stock sensor is just a pressure switch, when it drops below 6psi, the switch closes and the MIL light comes on. You should be reading in the neighborhood of 90 psi cold, and 25-30 psi hot at idle. If you are truly not getting any oil pressure, I woluld not run the engine as you will toast the bearings.

The sensor might of been broken in the swap ($10). I suppose you could buy a manual gauge but for a quick way you could pop the sending unit or filter off and crank it over without starting it. Wont exactly be accurate but you would atleast know if you've got oil that far. I dont really think it will throw a code, I think its really just the sending unit and the gauge, atleast on my car but its a '97

You will need chains for a 5.4L because the distance from the crank to the CL of the cam sproket is longer (due to the additional deck height). All other components are the same as the 4.6

IIRC, the primary chains are all the same on 5.4 regardless of SOHC or DOHC, that is why the DOHC's got a secondary chain arrangement.

Glad to hear it. Seems like we all run into little issues, some bigger than others.

what are the two sensors/ plugs on the 5.4; one is right in the valley and the other is close to it by the driverside head towards the front of the engine. my 4.6 didnt have them.

The one in the valley is the knock sensor, the other is the cylinder head temp sensor. My car didnt have them either, Cobra's were the only ones with knock sensors.

also does anyone know how big the hole for the know sensor is on the 5.4? i need it to be 3/8"
