What do i do? Wreck
I was driving my car and came to a stoplight and my foot slipped off the brake and i bumped a van in front of me. we both got off and he said i made the dent that he had on his rear bumper,he had other scratches he said he got from unloading stuff.anyways i dont think i made the dent because my car doesnt have any damage. we didnt call teh cops and just exchanged insurance info, numbers and stuff.i said id try to get him the part if he didnt report to insurance. should i just let him report it or what????

See if he'll give you a quote and settle outside of the insurance companies.
Otherwise, let the insurance company handle it..you may end up having to pay a little more in insurance costs now though.

i told him id give him just 40 bucks to end it right there and he said" 40 dollars wont get me a new bumper" ,i was pissed off because his bumper was jacked up already before the bump. when i got the insurance info his name wasnt even on there.can that be used against him?

40 bucks?
wow.... what a fool he was for not jumping on the opportunity for such a sizeable fortune.
if i were him i would want several hundred minimum.
Just because he has several scratches on his bumper doesent give you free licence to damage it further. And just because your car has no damage does not mean you did not cause the dent.
As for weather or not his name was on the insurance, why dont you "Man up" and repair the damage instead of looking for ways out of this mess. You hit him, you are at fault.

You rear ended him,. You admitted as much, you bumped into him! And now there is a dent in his bumper, and you think he is full of **** and that your car hitting his did not dent his car?
are you ******* high?
jesus man, people like you are the exact reason that i always get the cops involved, because i dont want some dumbass acting like they are gonna pay me for the damage they caused to my car and then offer me a measly 40 ******* bucks, and then try to weasle out of fixing the damage they caused to my car.
i hope he calls the ******* cops on you.

Yeah, you're pretty dumb for not calling the police to investigate on scene.
Here is how it works:
1.) He knows you hit him.
2.) You have no proof you didn't cause the damage.
3.) You didn't call the police
That means his word is stronger than yours and you have to fix his car.

As for you saying his bumper was screwed before you hit it, there is a saying that small claims judges like to use in this kind of thing. . . . "You take your victims how you find them" and YOU ARE responsible.
About 15 years ago I was young and dumb driving around with no insureance. I ended up rear ending a 70 something model tank of a car. The old black man driving was cool as hell about it too. It did NOTHING to his car, but the bumper of my Ranger Splash was fubared! So he agreed to squash it right there. I drove away counting my blessings really. Anyhow, I drove around with a screwed up bumper for about 3 months or so and I got lucky as hell! I was cruising in the right lane and all of a sudden the truck in the left lane came over and took out my drivers side fender and his wheel from it turning did one those "NASCAR RUBS" across the side of my bumper. Very light damage that he did really, but in the end. . . . . His insureance paid for ALL the damages to my truck.
