Cold air intake a good idea? hydro-lock problem question.
#3
Yea, I was just worried about the hydro locking since I have to drive 25 miles each way to work everyday and the roads I travel on are 45-55 mph. I'd be afraid to suck up some water if it rains real heavy. being in Florida it can, yet this year theres a big dry spell.

This si not a problem unless you are talking about one of those ram style intakes that suck air through the fog light hole.

Cold air
I have had a cold air for the past three years. I have never had a problem with it sucking up water. And this car was my daily driver for two of those years. I say go for it and have fun.

Cai
I was going to say be careful with making sure you get one that fits. I got one that was for 1999 - 2004, but it didnt fit my 2000 V6. So I had to return the old one and get a different model. For some reason 2000 year model was a bit different then the other years.

yeah my 2000 cai didnt work either but i didnt want to return it so i made the parts that it needed.

I have a 2001 V6 with a K&N CAI, and i love it, and never regret buying it...it makes your car sound better, and adds minimal performace...about sucking up things that won't happen, just get one of those recharge filter kits, and just keep the filter clean, and it will be a good investment...

If you feel like taking the extra mile to save money , get a cheapo CAI, but you might have to do some trimming.
I bought an ebay CAI /w a K&N filter, the angle on the pipe wasn't right, but after an hour or so of dremel work and sanding, it fit perfectly
Not bad for 25$, IMO better than spending 200$ or more on an intake that doesn't help your performance any more..

I actually have hydro-locked my car with my CAI on and yes it is a fender one... Just gotta be careful going through deep puddles, I went through a few deep ones then my car wouldn't start outside of a strip club (that would have been a great story to tell my parents) anyways get a K&N filter and all should be well, the cheapo filter they give you sucks anyway..
