My new alternator came in the mail today. Will this hurt anything?

d23fed79.jpg?t=1294939326

Looks like somebody dropped it on the pulley at the post office.

Its going to tear into your belt. Trust me, had the same thing on my alternator but not as bad and still ate it up to the point where i went to the dyno and all the pieces of the belt started flying everywhere.

Usually at any parts store but they dont go by "Alternator Pulley" Just ask for the size and tell them that you dont need the ones with the bearing housing cause that one is too small and your alternator "bolt" wont fit. They should be able to bring all kinds of pullies to you.

So my local ricerzone might have what I need? I wouldn't mind keeping that gold look to it.

Default 5.4 Ford Racing Short Block

I was wondering if anybody has tried or heard of anyone using the FRPP 5.4 forged short block. I called and got a quote of 3000.00 shipped to my door from Tousley Ford. It does seem like a good deal for what it consists of. It comes with Mahle 16cc pistons, Manley rods with ARP bolts, Lightning crank, oil pump and new block. It is stated for GT500 but will work in a Lightning setup. That means it should swap over. Opionions please! Thanks guys.

A year ago, they were 2700 shipped. I been researching everybody's short block. I even weighed building my own. By the time I buy the rotating assy and have it rotated, I would have around 2000. another 1000 or so in buying a block and have it decked and honed. I even looked into MMR short blocks. They are even cheaper but not sure of what I would be getting. I am not throwing anyone under the bus. Just not sure. Johnny Lightning are nice but 3600 plus shipping. DSS is 3300 plus shipping.

or my whole motor for 2900 + shipping. People keep passing that up which is about silly... it already has the heads and cams and front cover and comes with my awesome clutch. I'm putting stuff on ebay now so if any of you want it you'd better speak up.

MMR are good engines.

I have an alternator with pulley for 50 + shipping and another without the pulley for 45 + shipping.

All my pulleys for 100.

R3D, I have thought heavily and considered buying your motor. I even considered it when I bought your intake. I don't doubt its an awesome deal. For what I am trying to do, the compression is a little hight for my tastes. If I was going heavy on forced induction side, I would have went your route. I hope you do get it sold. Thanks!

it is 100% a copy of the FRPP header. It'll work but they're **** as far as power. No shorty is gunna help... you might as well save the hassles of actually doing headers and leave the stock logs on unless you're going to do longtubes and really, I wouldn't do those either. There's better ways to spend a couple grand.

Now just to clarify the header fitment, I read somewhere that the OEM 5.4 truck headers will not clear the steering shaft. Is this true? If they WILL clear the steering, I will just use the OEM ones from the truck instead of spending the money on replacement shorties. Honestly I'm not looking for power in the headers, I just need the manifolds so I can check them off my completion list. Thanks

Will

I'm willing to use the stock 4.6 ones as long as they will bolt to the 5.4 heads w/o issues. I didn't swap over any 4.6 heads because I'm coming from a 3V.

I'm am using a bone stock 2003 Lightning motor, my 3V harness and I'm still on the fence about using the electronic TB or just go with the Lightning TB and run the throttle cable etc.

well the heads are just regular 4.6 2v pi heads. you should be able to use the manifolds with minimal modification. ask r3d he did his swap with 2v heads. dont know why you are useing your 3v harness. id double check and make sure everything is the same. im useing 4v cobra heads and a cobra harness. but with yours your talking 2 diffrent motors. look into it and make sure b4 you start running into issues. just my 2cents

2 blown, 4.6 logs will work, the heads are the same from 4.6 to 5.4.

5.4stangswangin: good luck man. The intakes are like hen's teeth to find. You can get plates off ebay for relatively cheap.
