engine for cheap for those looking for a forged crank.
Is that such a great deal? Starting bid 700 + 600 shipping (CA) + aditional 150 to ship to residental. All for a used motor with 1183,582 KM (114,072 Miles) on it.

$ 1450.00 min for something that needs to be torn down, cleaned up and rebuilt. I don't have the tools or mechanical knowlege to do it, so that would mean sending it to a shop.

Can get a new 5.4 shortblock will all forged internals from MMR as low as $2600 + shipping (personally I live @ 100 miles away so I'd just go pick it up)

it's not just the block and no it's not a screaming deal but it's cheaper than a lot of people will be able to find a motor. We do have some canadian members too.

take the intake off and bolt the chain across from teh alt bolts to the bolts on the head where the water tube goes. works like a charm.

any parts off a 4.6 will carry over on the outside except the intake. so you can take all your assesories and transfer them over to the 5.4.

As far as that 2nd temp sensor goes, unless you have the drill and tap already. I'd just pay someone to do it, I think I looked at the drill bit and it was like $15 and I didnt even bother looking for a tap. 3/8NPT and a 9/16 drill bit. I paid the machine shop $10

Not when the entire front end is took off! I walked up between the frame rails and took the throttlebody off.
I was thinking about this last night and my mind reminded me something, that engine could have been a PI engine! I only assumed it was a NPI because of the aluminum intake, but I forgot that Ford made a few PI aluminum intakes in '99 and I never checked the year of the truck! DANG!
Maybe I need to go back!

Which intake are you referring to? Because the 2v manifold is already available. A 3v intake would be sweet, but who knows if they will ever start making those.

well tomorrow i might try and get a set of 04 lincoln town car heads but they say the front end took a heavey blow enough to break the timing gear...think i still should? maybe smashed in the front pinched the chain and the crank ripped the gear down? if not 5.4 will be put on hold for another 2 weeks

If they were dirt cheap and the heads look more or less untouched, maybe.
I mean PI heads aren't hard to come by.

EDIT: Officially selling my HPS intakes and a few other bits. Get your savings while you can. NOTE: it will take me several days to pull the intake. If you're in a hurry I'll pay a buddy of mine to come over and get it done but there will be an extra charge of 50 bucks for the rush (unless you're one of my special cases, then we'll talk offline). Otherwise you wait 7-14 days for shipping. Sorry... I'm a busy guy lately.

Selling my HPS intakes. Got a lightning supercharger on the way. Prices are pretty firm but if you're one of my special cases I may make you a special deal. Never hurts to ask. Prices include shipping to the lower 48. I will ship to canada or mexico but not many other countries.

HPS 5.4L 2v PI intake. Lightly ported to smooth transitions and get rid of casting lines. Port matched to a stage 2 head. Good for 15+hp or more over a PI intake on a 5.4. Direct bolt on fits under stock hoods. $540 shipped to the lower 48

HPS 4.6L 2v PI intake. This was a prototype intake so there are a few non-standard details: bolt holes for head mating surfaces are a little oversized (not a problem unless you use it with adapter plates on a 5.4L and then it gets a little sloppy, on a 4.6 it's a bitchin easy fit). It's been extensively ported and made sick power on my 5.4. The runner towers have been cut down and bell mouthed for better flow, the inlet to the plenum has been ported and tapered and the runner outlets have been port matched to a stage 2 head. There's over 50 hours of porting work in this damned thing. This is also the unit that was the basis of the 5.4 intake's design and proved that it would make a difference over the PI intake for less than a reichard. This is the one that started it all! $450 shipped.

Pro-Prod 75mm TB. Works great, easy bolt on. $100 shipped

Pro-Prod Upper Plenum. Worked over a little bit but mostly stock bolts right up, flows great. $100 shipped.

30lbs injectors. Recently cleaned and given new pintle caps and o-rings top and bottom. $100 shipped or trade for 42's.

Ported stock upper plenum. Extensively reworked. Roof raised and the floor raised and radiused into the short side turn for better flow. Best for a nitrous or NA car. Primed and ready for paint. Best Offer

Please reply in my for sale thread in the classified section. Let's keep this side for discussion of the swap and our lives as swappers.

depends on the year. There's even some that are made of both. Aluminum top and plastic bottom. Weird stuff.

Go to ebay and search 5.4L ford intake manifold like I did: http://shop.ebay.com/?_from=R40&_trk...All-Categories

I haven't been online here in quite a while. I knew the 2-V was either about to hit or already has (somebody was talking about a discounted purchase last time I was online).

I was also wondering about a 3-V, 4-V, etc. ...

Glad to see you come back!

r3dneck
What gives brother? I figured you would holdout for a TrickFlow head swap! Your car would be in it's prime for the heads.
No offence, but I can already point to some Lightning GT's and find the results. But a r3dneck GT with TFS heads?
I know the HPS intake, Cams, Headers will be what the Dr. orders for the new TrickFlow heads.

39psi is standard. I'd sit with that and see if it runs right.

Merlin: Any white castle's where you're at? I may have a hankerin for lunch.

TXBLUOVAL: Yep, it's out. It's a really nice setup and easy as hell to bolt up.

96black: I'm still getting the TFS heads but I couldn't pass up the deal on the blower setup. 700 bones shipped for the whole shootin' match minus the pulley bridge. I figure with the boost + nitrous + built motor + TFS heads should be really really exciting and I can make the same power as the TFS heads would NA with the blower. Adding nitrous (100hp) and better flowing heads should put me into that zone of never having to consider not having enough power.

Speaking of which... I have a machining request for my machinist homies: I want to make a prototype plenum for the L blowers that will put the TB on the passenger side and not be so damned tall. Any interest? I'll pay for materials and as much labor as I can afford. I'll be looking to get HPS or your company to make them and then sell them to lightning swapped stangers. It's low volume but should be an easy 250 dollar part. At minimum I want one.

Hard part with that plenum is going to be that it'll need to change shape.

I'm also interested in seeing about anyone interested in making an adapter plate so I can use a compressor from something like a 03 cobra or a GT500 on my L lower. Same willingness to pay.

on thing ive been considering is how much different is the cobra eaton than the lightning eaton. is it something a 1/2" blower spacer could solve if its something as simple as the mounting points? I havent found much out there comparing the two blowers, but that would be awesome.

The piece youre thinking of, how would it work? I'm tryin to picture it...

Only if I had an extra $100, I'd get the intake. And it doesn't help that I'm strongly considering a set of used Moser 31 spline axles on eBay for $75.

bassman... don't make me lend you the 100 bones.

domin8: I need to directly compare a cobra eaton and a L eaton to know for sure but I'm pretty sure I could solve it with an adapter plate or possibly even a better designed mid-plate. The plenum bit I'm thinking of would just be the blower inlet tube from the MAF and would probably look a lot like a Kenne Bell inlet for a L but on the other side of the blower.
