yeah... they put a roll of toilet paper (close enough) in the intake snorkel... plugged that pony up better than a pound of cheese.

Removing the obstruction, then smoothing out the really short air stream means a denser air charge and less power needed to suck the air into the engine. Other than that, 05's are heavily biased toward the intake side at the heads but restricted at every point upstream of them. The heads flow so much air that they're easy to detune by restricting the airflow further up the pipe. Start removing restrictions to incoming airflow and you'll see big power gains up until you reach the limits of intake manifold efficiency and cam spec. I'd imagine when cams with longer durations come out you'll see some 325-330rwhp bolt-on only 05's rolling around the streets.

well, I'm done with my car for awhile. I've come to a conclusion, there's really only one mod you can do without affeting other future mods, and this is exhaust. I have a Full SLP exhaust and love it. I have a BBK CAI, paid 200 bux, and I guess it was pointless. TB/Plenum wouldn't be worth 400 bux for 7RWHP. U/D pulleys are nice but not very effective and if you do a blower, they're useless and must come off. Cams are a great mod but expensive to do and install, but need to get the correct one for your app. Heads another great mod, but good heads for our cars are 2000 bux. Gears, excellent mod, but again pointless to get 4.10's if you are going to get a blower. Stall convertor, nice but need a different one for a blower again, and maybe not the best mod for a DD.

Basically I've come to this, I'm an auto, I don't run at the track and I'm a DD. I'm not going to spend 800 bux for another dyno tune, Tb/plenum, and U/D pulleys for MAYBE 13RWHP. I most likely wouldn't even notice it. Gears are dumb for me because I might supercharge.

My rant is done, I'm finished with my car performance wise. The best thing I can do is supercharge and THEN do the mods listed above based off this.

That's the most rational thing I've read on a Mustang board in a long long long time.

Get hold of yourself man! For the love of <insert diety here> there's a zillion more important things that NEED to be done to a mustang to make it really shine, even as a daily driver. You'd be amazed how much more you'd love your car if you spent a little well planned and executed mod resources on the suspension and brakes.

You don't need to go as far as me with a track ready setup but a few details make liking your stang easier. Brakes... can't say this loud enough. Get a cobra kit. Best 400 bucks I've ever spent. Period. Saved my life more than once and my *** a few dozen times. Suspension is another subject entirely. You can experience heaven on tires with a GOOD 4 wheel coil over kit with the right springs and a good set of control arms all the way around. Add a panhard bar and you're really quite well suited to spirited; if predominately conservative, driving as much as taking the kids to school or getting groceries. Or you can do any number of more conventional setups. I think they (conventional stock type setups) all stink after having gotten the full MM treatment but that's a point of view you have to experience to understand fully.
