I know this has been asked many times but i just had a lot of work done to my car and i was expecting a lot more power out of my setup than i got. i have read and heard that the stock bottom end on my 98gt is good for 400-450hp but i'm confused is that rated at the crank or at the wheels?
the guys working on my car just told me that the bottom end will only handle 350rwhp any more than that and it's not going to last. I'm not doubting him but i just waunted to check with what i have read and heard. i know my setup has a lot of compression so this probobly is a major factor.
I thought for sure that my setup was good for at least 400hp but instead i'm about 100hp south of that they did mention that they had to pull out quite a bit of timing (not sure how much was pulled out).

A list of your mods would help us determine if you really are down on horsepower or not. I'm not sure if there is really a difference in bottom ends from 98 to 99-04, but 450rwhp is pretty much max on these engines. Some will probably say thats too much, but it has to do a lot with the tune as well. Staying around 400ish rwhp is good.

BBK75mm throttle body, C&L plenum, powerdyne supercharger w/11 lb pulley, PI heads w/comp cams 270's and beehive springs, PI intake, 42 lb fuel injectors, 90mm MAM, 2200 stall converter w/trans cooler.

yea i put it away for the winter but come april to november i drive it every day. i never have taken it to the track and probobly never will.

This is a debatable subject because you never know what will happen. A good tune will get you a long way if you want to run 400hp to the wheels. There are some problems I see with your cars set up. The PI head swap brought your compression up, bad for boost, especially on a stock block. The other is a powerdyne blower...I dont know much about them but there may be a reason why no one ever mentions them on the forums. I think they told you not to exceed that much power is because of the higher compression.
I have a supercharged 2000 mustang GT its a Auto and pumps out 400 hp to the wheels 11 pounds of boost with moderate timing of 13* max. I have had this much power with this car for nearly 5 years and 30k miles of driving. I believe my car is a survivor and a freak of its kind because it has lasted for so long.

i only bought the powerdyne because it was entry level and very easy for me to install no tapping. i have run this supercharger for 5 years without insident @ 6lbs it only added 50hp so i went with 11 lbs not sure what it made but it was a big difference over the 6lb. these are very cheap but at the time i was only looking for 300hp so i thought i could make due with it. the compression is very high and i think i may have screwed myself now i will have to save for a built short block to handle the compression and maybe ditch the powerdyne for a pro-charger. (oh well next project)

the comp cams 270's are blower cams...
these are the cams you waunt to run for supercharged applications..

i'm thinking that i have just to much compression and they must of taken out a boatload of timing. i had read an article in a mustang mag. and they had ported heads and a better supercharger and on an engine dyno with no restrictions the motor put out 675 hp at the crank no accessories. i did everything else same cams and springs, throttle body and plenum.....
