Default Crank Bolt Torque Specs???

I have had my stock crank bolt on and off the car at least 4 times. I have reused it every time and torqued it to 116-121 lb-ft. My Chiltons manual recommends this for 96-98 cars. I have never had any problems.

Now the literature that came with my newly purchased Steeda U/D pulleys say torque to 116-121 lb-ft. for 96-97 cars but then recommend a TTY procedure as REVISED torque specs for 98-01 cars. But Ford lists the same part # for both bolts.

Anyhoo, I went ahead and purchased a 98 bolt from Ford today just to be safe. So whats the deal?

Should I continue to use my stock bolt and do as I have been doing? Or should I use the new bolt and follow the TTY specs?

use the stock bolt and do what your chiltons manual says to do.
