Default car trouble

hello, i got a 98 mustang gt automatic. two days ago i was driving to work and all of a sudden my radio started shutting off and then turning back on and a few minutes after that my car shut off completely and i had to pull over to the side of the road. i tried starting it again and it would crank but not turnover. i got it towed to a mechanic shop but they havent gotten a chance to look at it yet. does any one know what kind of surprise i should be expecting?

bad battery + bad alternator + loose ground + probably a poorly installed radio.

Just a guess.

well the radio was installed at best buy a few years ago, the battery is fairly new, the ground wire was good too. i turned the bass up on my system so its been hitting harder then usual. could i have burnt out the alternator?

a bad or undersized battery and excessive underhood heat is normally what I see killing electrical systems.

A good start would be to assume nothing... Since you're having trouble assume that new stuff needs checked out too.

Best Buy installers are capable of being just as big a pile of retards are joe blow in his driveway, batteries getting excessively drained or not charging all the way can cause alternators to burn out pretty fast. There are over 20 ground connections in my car... not just one or 2. I'd recommend finding and then checking all of them in yours.

Depending on how big an amp you have, you may have to upgrade your alternator to keep up. I'll bet your alternator took a ****. Check your local rebuilder and have it beefed up.

i had to get my car towed to the ford dealership cuz the other shop couldnt fix it. apparently the chip in my key went bad and the auto theft shut my car off and wouldnt allow it to start.
