Default car trouble

well i have never had any car trouble with my stang but on the way to work my car just died on me. like my radio just turned off and everything powered down. i think it is probably my alternator isnt charging my battery but its kinda weird how it just stopped. is there anything i should check for to see whats wrong?

I would start with the alternator. You can go to an Autozone or other local parts stores and have them check it.

I've heard of that problem. Does your security light blink alot? If so then its some kind of sensor in the car or in the key going bad. IDK if your keys the big thick one like mine that has the RFID chip in it or not.. But i wouldnt reccomend starting there its too expensive. My sound system has killed my alternator before.. And what happened when my alternator was going out was,, my subs wouldnt power up, the amp would always show the red light. It sputtered like crazy,, and would not hardly rev up past 3000 rpms where the fuel pump couldnt get enough electricity to run. And i drove it home then it would idle but eventually die,, iwould hook a charger too it then run it again and it would die again eventually. So i guess start with taking the alternator off and take itto auto zone or something,, its a fairly simple process, Just grab the belt tensioner with a wrench and pull twoards urself really hard (if your on the battery side) and the belt will loosen,, slide it off a little then 2 or 3 bolts maybe and the alternator is off. just peck it with a hammer to slide it out becuz of how aluminum does. And if thats not the problem, try something about the security, becuz my car will not start with a key that i had made at the hardware store. it will crank but wont fire the plugs. If yours is still cranking it probably isnt the alternator. Lastly, after i fixed my alternator i got a gauge pod with some cheapo advance auto gauges just for looks, except for the volt meter, and i hooked the voltmeter up to keep an eye on my volts. my car has a bad electrical system i think.. The normal alternator will run at 14.4 volts. Then of course a batterys like 12.2 or so. The extra 2.2 volts is like a trickle charge for the batter when its running. Hope this helps!
