I'm supposed to be heading to Southern California around mid-late January to get a set of longtubes fitted to the 5.4. Those should come to market within a couple months of them being fitted to my car. Desktop Dyno simulations say to expect 40rwhp from the longtubes.
Those of you that won't be getting into an HPS intake should still gain as much as 40hp by switching to longtube headers on your 5.4L 2v. This is the cheapest 40rwhp you can get. I'll post the name of the company that's making the headers as soon as they tell me I'm allowed. Till then feel free to NOT speculate wildly.
Those that do invest in the HPS intake are looking at up to 65rwhp or more gain between the headers and the intake over shorties and adapter plates. Yes there are tq gains too. Suffice it to say the whole power band should get plum nasty with both the headers and the intake in place.

Dammit, i talked to the wife and told her that i think im gonna try to do this seeing as how it is a lot less pricey than an s/c.
she said i can do whatever i want to my mustang AFTER i get her a 2001+ Jeep Cherokee.

You'll need the engine in the car in all probability but you'll need to drop the k-member. It's easy as pie. Support the front of the motor at the crank pulley with a tranny jack or similar device. You may be able to put them in with the k-member in but that's completely unlikely without a tubular k-member.
Price should be dead on with the mid market average for LT's for 4.6 cars.

You'd do really well with a reversed set of FRPP or JBA shorties for your turbo setup. Those would make great starting points for turbo headers.

need to do a hookup. I have a few buddies around here and there and you can usually find one through the local boards. If you're up here with us I'm sure 00blackstanggt and I can possibly help you out finding a place.

Gotta get new flanges since the 3V bolts up differently (2V bolt hole are slanted while 3V are straight up and down). Plus, I bet there's some dimensional differences. Other than those two things, it's probably a lot easier to modify those vs. your standard 4.6 2V headers.

expect +20-30hp to the tires. Price should be about market for mid-grade longtubes... figure 300-500 depending on finish/material.
You can get some BBK longtubes and modify the passenger side if you don't want to wait.
