Truth on the Typhoon Intake and the power it makes.
Saw this in an article of the latest Mustang Enthusiast. I'm going off memory here:
96-98 Mustang GT.
Fully built block with .020 bore over. Patriot? stage 3 heads, Livernois custom cams, tuned with XCal2, manual tranny. Basically a fully built engine.
He added the typhoon intake and after another dyno/tune, only gained 4RWHP. He definitely had the airflow and the power to make good numbers, so I guess the Typhoon really isnt worth it.
His words, "At least it looks a lot better" haha

HPS has some impressive results on theirs. The powerband on a motor they tested showed big gains in area under the curve. The motor came in with WAY too much cam and no bottom end power and got pretty impressive results off just an intake. Glad I have one still.

Amen, My HPS Manifold made up for the torque my cams lost. I made awesome gains. I never posted my retesting, but I made 310rwhp with simple bolt ons and cams.

yeah. Dallas Mustang Tuned it, and its a pretty conservative tune. The guy that tuned it the first time were trash He actually got fired from Dallas Mustang for screwing people. He ran my car on the dyno with the intake plenum half way off! So i couldn't take anymore of their crap(previous installments too) and started to go to Dallas Mustang. They are really great people.

When you get a chance, can you post some pics of it? I know it has to brighten the engine bay up pretty good.

I'm about ready to start drilling holes in a real aluminum bottom cover. As you might imagine this is the sort of thing I only want to do 1 time.

I've built half a dozen prototypes from plastic so far and a few have shown real promise. The issue has been sourcing for some of the parts. It's hard to find some of the bits in places a regular consumer can get to so I'm having to go to extra lengths to get them. So far I'm only modding the bottom cover so it's an easy upgrade. I've been toying with another angle that's really silly simple but I need to get some heads on my 4.6 block and check the clearances. Packaging is an issue because I can't use high pressure plastic lines in places where it would make life really pleasant so I have to use AN fittings and those take up a certain minimum amount of space. Packaging has been relatively easy so far on my 5.4 block but I'm a little concerned about the 4.6.

I found spray bars to be too much hassle to source so now I'm trying to find a wet type front shooting nozzle with a really really small head end that has the inputs at 90deg to the axis of the stem. That's for the wet kit.
I've got the dry system no problem.. that's actually an easy mod. I've got basically what amounts to two fan spray nozzles angled in so they're at about 40deg off the horizontal. In this setup you end up with a dry nozzle facing each bank of runners and supplying a 25 or 35 shot each. The nozzles are fed by a Y-block.
In general the kit is only supposed to replace the existing nozzles on a users system... so no solenoids or electronics are in my plan. It will be pretty darned discreet though. People will have a real hard time figuring out there's nitrous in there if the install is done right.

yeah... they've been saying a "couple months" for a "couple years" so I don't look to see it before end of summer. It's not going to do much good from what I've seen. It's still long runner which limits RPM capacity. Some day the aftermarket will listen to what we want and give us a 8-11" variable length runner stuck to a 2 gallon plenum.

It's not out yet, it's due out next month, just summit is advertising it. I wonder why they didn't put it on their online store yet though or even on Trickflow's site...Does anyone know if the Edelbrock intake is actually out yet since I don't see a place that sells it but it's in Edelbrock's catalog?
