Default Typhoon intake

I was just wondering if any of you have purchased/installed the typhoon intake for 99-GTs?

It's not an cai, it's a REAL intake for pi heads made by pro products, runs around $500 and claims 25hp on a na car 2v that is. I've thought about it but I wasn't real impressed with the dyno.

Yes sir, that would be the one. I should have been more specific about it. I was thinkin about it aswell, but not too sure if it is worth 500 bucks.

If you do a search we have had a discussion about this...out conclusion is to wait untill more companies make them so they become cheaper. But I would gladly donate my car as a test subject to test one out. I think my nitrous would love it. Theres is another one out there that $700 that is bullet proof and nitrous backfire proof I want to get my hands on it.

Guys, keep in mind this is a Korean made copy of our stock intake. They might have machined them to flow a little better and offer the ability to port them even more, but I would be leary of it right off the bat. I have nothing against Korean products as I stand behind Hyundai 100%.

The numbers would not be accurate since your getting a engine build that is well over stock the best canidate would be someone that has done a dyno and then install the intake manifold then dyno it again to get the difference.

You can spray fine with the PI just take some extra precaution so you dont have a back fire. I'm spraying a 125 shot no problems here

Where do you get that info? Professional Products isn't korean, they're in southern california. I've been working with them on several projects in the 4.6 and 5.4 space...which so far have been made entirely in the USA.

The typhoon is mostly a copy of the stock intake but it's a 3 piece that you can have heavily ported, it's safe against mild nitrous backfires. You can also take the bottom of the plenum off and expand it. 20hp gain is pretty optimistic. You'd have to run 6500rpm to see that. Street driven stangs with 6000rpm redlines might see a little power bump but not much.

Much like mr freezin, I like the Hi-Performance Solutions Hardball'r unit. It's plenum is HUGE, the runner volume is big and the runner length is shorter for better hp. HPS is making a 5.4 version of that same intake with a monumentally vast lower plenum which we're hoping will fit under a stock hood. The HPS model also makes a real direct port nitrous sytem a possibility. Just mount your fogger at the base of each runner horn and no more worries about fuel puddling and blowing up the intake. To make things even better, putting your foggers inside the lower plenum makes the kit basically invisible for super duper sleeper value. Go ahead and pop your hood... noone will see your nitrous nozzle.

Wait until a proven intake comes out guys. Some company on www.modularmisfits.com is working on one right now. It looks pretty promising. I wouldnt go out and buy some $500 POS that claims 20-25rwhp with no dyno sheets or anything. Not even the the P-51 is proven. Ive heard so many people lose power with that thing. I can also tell you that Tim at MPH doesnt like it.

the fact of the matter is that the intake isn't restricting power much on a stock 2v 4.6. The cams are the restriction. Replace the cams and you can pick up as much as 30-40hp. Until you run into intake restriction, no intake will make jack for power above the plastic piece of crud that the GT's come with.

Yeah, i couldn't see Korea making that intake, I was there for 15 months, so no. They did test the intake, plenum, and TB (i think TB also) in one of the mustang mags and it gained like 25 up top. And when they make the 5.4 intake, i'm jumping on it. open it up, have it ported some more for my stage 2 heads, and get some cams to follow....damn.
