Stage 2 N/A Cams -= CSLEDD!
Ok, first off, CSledd if your round here I'm sure you can help out since I know you're doing this. Also we have similar cars with the exhaust set up.
Anyways, I was talking with my tuner today and instead of diong 75mmTB/Plenum, JLT RAI, Saleen U/D pulleys, (which would be approximately 950) I might just do cams.
If I do stage 2 N/A cams what else do I need to get and any companies recommended?
Do i need valves? springs? rockers???? all the little things.
I'm thinking VT stage 2, but thats yet to be determined.
With my mods (full exhaust, bbk cai, and will have it tuned afterwards) what kinda of gains would I see to the wheels? Remember I am an auto.

$950 for THOSE mods is outrageous. You can do the CAI, TB and plenum yourself in about an hour in your driveway with nothing more than a screwdriver and 5/16 wrench or socket. I've never done U/D pulleys but I know Steeda's aren't that incredibly expensive and I can't see them taking more than 2 hours to put on unless you don't have the right tools. You can get a brand new JLT for $200, FRPP TB & Plenum for right about $300 and I think the U/D pulleys are $150ish. If your tuner quoted you that much for that work, I'd be looking for another tuner because he's charging some ridiculous rates.
For the VT stage 2's and also for Comp 262's and higher valve springs are at least strongly recommended, there's no point in not doing them since you're already going to be under the valve covers anyway. Rockers are always something to at least consider when changing cams, but don't go outrageous on the ratio, remember piston to valve clearance isn't that great on these motors from the factory.

75mm Accufab Tb/Plenum: 430
SALEEN U/D pulleys: 240
JLT RAI custom paint to white: 180
COST: 850 all installed myself. The only thing I would have installed if I couldnt would be the pulleys, so for safe betting we'll say thats 50 bux for a total of 900 dollars. So I was close.
With an experienced installer with 4.6 engines, how long would it take someone to swap out cam and valve springs? (doing it right, taking time, etc)

I was quoted 5.5hours for my 02 from a very good shop in my area... depends on what year car you have though if i can remember right 99-2000 4.6's have pressed on timing pullies which means that the whole front timing cover would have to be removed and bump the time up to 9 hours...I also work at a small shop and looked the time on Alldata and for my 02 the listed time is 7 hours i beleive so.... look to spend a decent amount on labor and a tune.

I guess plan on about 400 for install then

Ok, after doing some looking, I might just go with Stage 1.
Reasons:
1.) They say you need a 2800 stall or higher
2.) Need springs (which isnt a problem, just extra money)
3.) I wasn't to fond of the rough idle. I heard a clip at idle that was supposedly stock, and didnt care for it.
I think the Stage 1 N/A would be good for me, add some power, not that rough idle, wont need new springs, and also can be used with stock stall.
03gtmustang..... You got any vids with ur cams?

The stage 1s are becoming more and more promising. I'm anxious to see how CSledd's car sounds.
I probably will have to hold up on the stall for now, too many other things going on.

As far as stage one cams I think I can have them purchases and installed for under 1K. Hopefully with a tune I should be around 260-265RWHP. Add on the Tb/Plenum, and JLT RAI maybe maybe 275RWHP. Not bad for an auto.

Im not saying I wouldnt get it, I would jump on them both in a heartbeat, I think BBK makes very solid parts overall.
It's just for my application/goals I want the look of the polished finish.

I just think its gonna be more reasonable for me to get the stage 1's. I won't need new springs and the stock stall will be fine.
Between the stage 1s and 2s with a stock stall I dont think there is a big enough difference in power for me to go ahead with the 2's.

I also have the full exhaust, so I'm sure that will make the stage 2's and even 1s idle sound a little more lopey.
So you think with full exhaust I would put down about 20RWHP with stage 1 VT cams through stock auto?
