work boots

Smile work boots

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a pair of work boots for my father who is an electrician; he refuses to tell me anything other than "just buy a pair from wal-mart"... yea, not gonna happen
so, what are some suggestions from some of you guys?
I'm in the IT field so I can honestly say I've never even worn a pair of boots.....
i was first thinking steel toe.... electrician.... good/bad idea???
anyhoo, any suggestions will help greatly

OH, I'd like to keep it under 100$
I know good boots are more than this but im looking for bang/buck

i was actually looking at cat.... ive found a few under 100$..... unless there are some major arguments, i may go that route

best pair of boots i ever had were 40 from walmart
i was climbin in sewage and everything for a plumbing company
and they never really got wet or anything on the inside
impossible to get that smell off though

You can't go wrong with steel toe. I don't see where you would need them as an electrician.. but **** happens. Only major problem is they get cold in the winter time.

You can pick up some steel toe Doc Martins for under 100.

my reccommendation is to go to an army surplus store and buy a pair if Linesman boots. They break in nice, wear comfortable, steel toe, meet all OSHA standards, etc.

...don't buy steel toed boots...

S'all he needs is one more thing that conducts electricity on him.

Does he like to wear lace up boots or just the pull ons?

As far as laceups go..when i first started i had a pair of carhartts that were really comfortable..lasted a decent while too.

Also, alot of electricians like to wear hiking boots..more comfortable..

+2, I waer them evry day for work, and I have been doing so for years. best boots EVAR!!! worth the money for comfort and durability.

Redwings are nice.... but yea, bout 2x as expensive ....

and last 20 times longer though...so in the long run they are cheaper.

Think my slip ons costed like..$300 I've worn them for about a year now... still holding strong.

My dads had his for 5 years...and he can make them look brand new if he wants.

If you have sensitive feet they are great..

I just switched to red wings and love them. 12 hour shifts on my feet all day.

I have a pair of wolverines. I like them. I'm an electrician as well. They are a little heavy though. Maybe i'll try red wings when these ones are done with.

I've been wearing steel toed boots for 20+ years and my last pair were Timberlands. Best dam boots I have EVER worn.. Had them 3 years now and they are almost ready to retire. They have them in steel or non steel toed styles. Arch support built in, and my feet have never felt better.. This is on the concrete jungle 5 and 6 days a week. I'll never go back to red wings, or any thing that cost under 100 bucks.. Mine were 145 bucks, but money well spent. Plus I get 70 buck discount cause I'm required to wear steel toes..
