Default Service Manual

How helpful are these things?
Which are the best?

If your going to do any kind of mechanicle work on your car ie brakes, repairs etc.. get it. I get one for every car i own as i do all my own repairs because its cheaper and fun. You can get those at any autoparts stores.

I currently have the g/f Isuzu Rodeo in my garage with the heads, intake, cams, exhaust off it to fix popped head gaskets. So it saves you alot of money and you learn new cool stuff.

Get the Chilton one. Haynes sucks, big ones. They leave too many important details out in their instructions and don't explain how to do certain repairs/checks. When I changed my diff fluid, I had to look at a Chilton manual for a 93 Mustang at my school's auto shop since my Haynes didn't list the torque spec for the cover bolts.

Ditto. The Haynes have no useful info in my opinion. It is very very basic.

Also, don't get any stuff from the Z-net at Auto Zone. I went to two different Auto Zones, ended up with two different sets of instructions for removing and replacing rear rotors on my 94 GT Vert. They didn't have a Chilton's, but a Haynes came with the car - ad even it was better than what they gave me.

Save some hassle - buy the book!!

Edit: Don't buy anything from Auto Zone. They shouldn't even allow it to be classified as an auto parts store.

This piece of advice should be a sticky. Thank God there's a Car Quest in my neighborhood.
