(around 14-16 seconds you can hear it and then again at 2:19 i believe)
sound occurs during start up, sound like a clicking or chattering. Seems to be coming from under the hood, and i have no idea what it is.

I wish I could tell you.. My '03 Mountaineer does it too, especially when it's cold. All I can figure is that it is the starter because it never makes the sound while driving only right after start-up.

If anyone else has any insight, I'd be happy to hear it too! lol

I honestly don't think it is anything to worry about.. My only thought is that the starter will eventually go, which will suck for me because it's an automatic.. The truck runs great, no codes, nothing. And it only does it when it's cold. If I drive it for a few minutes and then park to go into the store or something and come out while it's still warm it won't do it again.

Here is a video of the Mountaineer. It really does it at the 50 second mark.

Just a guess but, might just be the solenoid sticking a bit, Had to listen to both of them to really notice it. If it stays stuck then you will really notice it..

Your Mustang sounds like mine. only 38k miles, wow.

Maybe it could possibley the Altanator (Sp).

Edit: Grab a friend or someone, open the hood and have him/her check for where the area is coming from when you start it up. Try to pin point where it is, may not be right, but you never know.

Only reason why I say may not be right, because my clutch is out, throwout bearing is making A LOT of LOUD NOISE and it sounds likes it's coming from some where else when your under the hood. LOL
