Couple qustsions of chips and handhelds
I was debating on what I should buy I was wondering if any one had suggestions or what they have bought them self's. My mustang and what I have done to it below I just bought it last friday.
Welcome to the site bro! Nice looking car too!
I would recomend you getting a hand held tuner. There are too many pros to them NOT to get one. With a hand held tuner you can pull diagnostic codes from your car, change tire and wheel size and gears too, to keep the speedo accurate... and one of the best things..... When you do other mods to your car you dont have to pull your chip out to send it off for another tune. All ya got to do is make a call to have a tune e-mailed to you ... download it onto the tuner from your PC then take it to your car and install it.
Another thing to consider when buying a hand held tuner is local dyno shops. Most shops deal MAINLY with one type or the other... wheather it be SCT or Diablo or whatever. Now if you happen to get one that they DONT deal with. It doesnt mean they CANT work with you (I dont think). It just means that their software works better or worse kind of. What all this means is that if you were to ever take your car in to have a real tune put on it (most e-mail tunes are generic and not really optimized) you will already have a key part for them to do their job better.
From everything I have read about the s197s... the ecu doesnt take well to modding. I hear you get a check engine light for something as small as a cold air intake. So a tuner is a pefect next step for you IMO

Livewire from what I've heard is a good tuner, but not needed for your mods. I'd got with a Diablosport Predator, or an SCT X3 or Xcal2 in your case.
