V-6 Exhaust

Question V-6 Exhaust

I keep seeing articles and ads for converting V-6 exhaust systems to duals. When installing a dual system on a V-6 Mustang (1994 in particular) there is no WARNING that the right side pipe SHOULD NOT BE PLACED as on the V-8. This is because the fuel line for the V-6 is located where the pipe would be placed. If installed next to the fuel line, would there not be a problem with the fuel getting very hot and bubbling or worse? From what I am told by the local Ford dealer is to relocate the fuel line prior to placing duals on a V-6. This would be quite costly since special tubbing would be required not to mention the special bends required to complete a relocation. If anyone has a better solution, I sure would be interested.

What.

I don't believe it makes a difference, there are thousands of V6 stangs with dual exhaust and I have never heard of their fuel line igniting or something.

Ford dealers usually don't know what the hell they are talking about.

i never had a problem on that. I have true duals

yeah the bodies are all the same weather v6 or gt i haven't heard of that one

I have a flow master dual exhaust on mine and have had no problems beside being pulled over and have them saying it seemed a bit to loud lol

If a shop tells you that the fuel line is too close, go find another shop, as they don't know what they are talking about.

Likewise, if a shop tells you 2.5" pipes won't fit over the axle tubes, find another shop.

As far as the heat issues, I had my full-length subframe connectors welded in and the rail was very close to the welding area on the passenger side. I don't know how hot the exhaust gets, but your EGTs shouldn't be hot enough to weld metal.
