Man...don't feel bad. Noobe misstake. Those things are a joke, though. The idea is that you place a resister on the electrical line that runs off of the IAT. The IAT is a sensor that measures air temp. The colder the air temp, the more fuel your car will add and this is what allows you to make more power. BUT, you also have to consider air fuel ratio and then the O2 sonsors compensate anyway. As a result, these "chips" as you call them, don't work and can actualy seriously damage your car.
BUT don't feel bad. Devices that "lie" to your car's computer come in many packages. Some are $2.00 and some are $300. Always by from a reputable source and always think things through so you understand what you are doing.
You can get a lot of GOOD advice from sites like this and sometimes even bad advice. Most bad advice is generally the result of people giving good technical advice, but to the wrong person and not understanding their needs.
So, first off, welcome to the site. Secondly, why don't you tell us more about your car and the type of goals that you have.

Think you missed what Water was asking...
We want to know more about your car ect... get familiar with you and such..
As for your mirrors go... I have no clue.
As for a few other things... it is a GOOD decision to ask people around here about products...alot of times they have tried them, or have them...
You learn good and bad things about the product ect. Most newer stang people who haven't done major work ask about things...such as myself.. i ask about absolutely everything before i get it, for the most part. If not on here, then buddies that know mustangs inside and out..
Just a little advice, not trying to sound like a douchebag or anything.
As for the chip..be ready to spend some cash.. XCAL and Diablo are good..I believe there are a few others... but..before most can make a decent judgement to help you... things like your cars year helps. And we automatically assume its a v6. Manual or Automatic? What all do you have done? How high of horsepower are you aiming to get? Whats your budget for items?
All of these I have been asked by respected people on here, and afterwards, I've been given some damn good advice..
*giving you the heads up* thats all.

Keep in mind that you will spend about $350 to $500 to get a good chip/tuner and get 10 hp at the most. But, they have a lot of other features and unless you really planing on modding your car, probably not worth it.
As far as the mirror goes, go things are generally held on by two bolts. You will need to remove some trim on the inside of the door just by carefull prying it off so you can expose the bolts.
I have never done one on a Mustang, but onb my Suburban it is aboout a 5 minute job.

if you have door tweeters then remove the soft covers over the speakers by pulling firmly (a slight bit of prying may be required). There's two bolts right behind the cover. You'll want to pry out the door handle cup on the inside (where you grab to close the door... it just pops out from the top) so you can reach the wiring harness for the mirror.
BTW... don't get a tuner till you can tell us exactly what you want from the car. It may not even require a tuner. NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM EBAY that promises more than 2 hp for less than 200 bucks. It's always a lie. Anything that is a power benefit costs more than 200 bones anymore.
