Default Lose HP/TQ/GasMileage on Dual Exhaust?

So I went to a exhaust shop today, to see how much a dual exhaust (H pipe) would run me.. and i told him I had a 6 ect... told him I either wanted Magnaflow or Flowmaster 40s ...

Well he said that I would actually lose Torque, Horsepower, and my Gas Mileage would go down with a Dual Exhaust, something about how it takes more out of a v6..

He gave me an option, to go with the single pipe still, but to get a Mandrel bend and have the exhaust tip harder to see...

The only reason why I wanted the dual was for the good looks, but if I'm going to lose all of that..maybe the looks aren't worth it?

He priced me a 300 bucks for the Magnaflow, and a 3hr installation.. any comments?

Idk much about a V6, but can't you just get a dual H-pipe and then any GT Catback? If so, do it yourself, ain't hard at all.

I would be willing to bet that if there was a drop in mpg, it would be very minimal.

And I think dual exhaust on V6's look bad to begin with, they have to have bumper cutouts imo

Yea, well the guy said he could do the bumper cutouts and everything he'd just charge an extra like..50 bucks or some crap..i didn't remember the details, just the stuff i cared about at that very moment. ;x

yo don't listen some muffler mechanic that doesn't know **** about V6 Mustangs... my dual exhaust from Spintech gained me 9 hp...it's side exhaust and looks as great as it sounds...

it's also alot more expensive then the regular guys but you won't be dissappointed. For now save your money and go with either a MAC or Magnaflow catback dual exhaust. you won't loose anything, if you did it would be so negligable, an exhaust will always help you on the highway...

Hmm... ok. So basically Mac Catback dual exhaust.. how much extra would it all run me do you think? I'm not looking into going past like..600 bucks.. right now its not really in my price range..i'm hoping to be able to get the exhaust on before lets say...the 7th of january.. so i've only got about 600 to spend on it.

If you spend more then $3-400 on everything installed I will personaly come find you and smack the **** out of you LOL. You could buy a mac or whatever cat back you want and then just have a shop fit it to your stang. Or you could just buy whatever mufflers you want and just have a muffler shop bend you some pipes. Or you could go find a stock GT cat-back and use that (that's what I've got). Point is shop around do not spend over $400 and always take what mechanics say with a grain of skepticism. According to Just tires 295/35 tires don't fit a mustang, imagine that douschebags face when I came back and showed him.

and to add to cuban's point
when i went to the falkin tire store intown i told the guy what size rim i had, 17X10.5 and he told me to put a 245/40 tire on it....i laughed at him and walked out....

haha, yeah man to be honest, the best advice your guna get is guna be from fellow mustang owners, don't talk to people who said oh yeah I had a mustang back in the day years ago, or some random ****, people still tell me u can't fit 10" rims on the back of a V6... when i pull up they shut up real fast...

I know how it is... every time I take the beast somewhere for a little work (particularly alignments) they tell me how bad a decision I'm making. Then I tell them to shove their one-size-fits-all opinions in their asses and actually look at what I rolled through the doors before they try and hand me some of their know nothing lube tech BS.

Last time I had an alignment the guys says "It's gunna pull to the right and eat tires" to which I replied, "Well if you bothered to look at the car you'd note that it's more race car than street car and my settings are perfect for my uses. If you're going to hand out advice at least have the courtesy to look at the whole picture and give the right adivce."

He started to argue my point and so I took him outside (being as big a jerk about it as I could), showed him my suspension and he shut right the F up like a good little drain boner.

Not a stock piece of suspension hardware on the WHOLE car and he's telling me to run it straight up at factory settings. I felt justified making him feel as stupid as he showed himself to be.

You know it's moments like those that make it feel good to be an ******* for a couple minutes.

Yup. Or you could try and find a GT rear bumper.

Yea, cutting the bumper may not look the best, but then again, I've never seen it done.

Cuban: don't feel like paying for paint.

I've seen a shop here in town that did a few cuts on a few stangs..it actually turned out really clean..

On one v6 they actually drilled through the bumper, and had the exhaust coming out of it..used something or did something to help protect it from turning black/melting..

I wouldn't mind going with the side exiit.. especially here in town.. I haven't seen ANY regular stangs with the side exit except for the Roush stangs..

Well, let me edit, any that have had it professionally done, or have it look decent.

bottom line is duel exhaust will not do all that

you MIGHT loose some tq depending on how free flowing the exhaust is but that's it
