Default Difference between 315 and 275 tires on a deep dish

There has been many questions about th 10.5 in wheel and how a 315 looks compared to a smaller tire 275. First we have the 315s.

The 315's look perfect. The 275's look plain stupid on the deep dish rim. I hate it when people put tires that are too little on a rim that's big. rotest:

275's look too homie the way they dont fill the rim, a full fitting tire looks much better plus the meat is the shiz....

Hey Guys , I just bought a set of DD 18x9's . i was thinking of going with 255/45's on my 05 Mustang. What do you think. It was that or a set of 285/40's I don't want to go to wide for the rim but I also don't want too small///

1StockGT,

Did you have any problems with clearance with those wheels? I'm looking at getting hooked up with some 315's and need to know if there is a clearance problem. Also, what is the rim size I will need to get this set up? Do I need 10.5's to do it, or can I go smaller?

I haven't had any clearance issues. I also have the 17x10.5s with a 315/35/17. Since the pic I posted above have lowered my car 1.5" and haven't had any rubbing problems. I also still have the quad shocks still on too. I'm pretty sure you're going to need 17x10.5s, the 17x9s aren't wide enough for the 315s. I think the widest you can go on the 17x9s is a 275.

Sorry took so long to respond.

18x10 in back with 285/35/18
18x9 in front with 265/35/18.

Both fit perfect with no rub.

This is some great information, I really appreciate it. My Co-Worker and I are both looking for good tire prices and this really helps alot!

I am also looking at going with 275x4 on my 2001 GT, and hopefully I can get them at a good price!

Check out mine, 295/35ZR18 on a 10" DD rim. I think they look great, not too fat, not too skinny.
