Difference between 315 and 275 tires on a deep dish

There has been many questions about th 10.5 in wheel and how a 315 looks compared to a smaller tire 275. First we have the 315s.

Tire brand makes a difference as well. Here is something I found.

The 315's look perfect. The 275's look plain stupid on the deep dish rim. I hate it when people put tires that are too little on a rim that's big. :protest:

timstpetefl 07-05-2005 06:19 AM

275's look too homie the way they dont fill the rim, a full fitting tire looks much better plus the meat is the shiz....

Grimmz 09-24-2005 04:21 PM

i got 275's on my 10's and they look like your 315's on 10.5's...i'll post a pic in a bit...

Hey Guys , I just bought a set of DD 18x9's . i was thinking of going with 255/45's on my 05 Mustang. What do you think. It was that or a set of 285/40's I don't want to go to wide for the rim but I also don't want too small///

What size are the bad rims...DD would be like 10 or 10.5

05blackstang 09-29-2005 02:10 PM

They are 18x9. I ordered them off MT's web site. They said they were DD, I hope they are.

Will my 96 gt fit 315s? I have heard somewhere that I need to get different exhaust. Anyone know for sure?

1StockGT,

Did you have any problems with clearance with those wheels? I'm looking at getting hooked up with some 315's and need to know if there is a clearance problem. Also, what is the rim size I will need to get this set up? Do I need 10.5's to do it, or can I go smaller?

I have 10.5's out back with 315/35/17s and they dont rub at all no matter how I drive...I also run 275/40/17's up front on 17x9 rims and they rub a tiny bit only when the wheel is fully turned...but come to think of it, now that I have lowered my car the front tires dont rub anymore.

I haven't had any clearance issues. I also have the 17x10.5s with a 315/35/17. Since the pic I posted above have lowered my car 1.5" and haven't had any rubbing problems. I also still have the quad shocks still on too. I'm pretty sure you're going to need 17x10.5s, the 17x9s aren't wide enough for the 315s. I think the widest you can go on the 17x9s is a 275.

Sorry took so long to respond.

r3dn3ck 01-12-2008 09:12 AM

18x10 in back with 285/35/18
18x9 in front with 265/35/18.

Both fit perfect with no rub.

This is some great information, I really appreciate it. My Co-Worker and I are both looking for good tire prices and this really helps alot!

I am also looking at going with 275x4 on my 2001 GT, and hopefully I can get them at a good price!

Check out mine, 295/35ZR18 on a 10" DD rim. I think they look great, not too fat, not too skinny.
