Has anybody heard the one about adding 1oz. of acetone to every 5 gallons of gas in your tank and your mpg will increase? MM

 

if it really increased mileage don't you think the gas would already have acetone in it? don't do it.

 

Yeah, thats a BAD idea...

Acetone, while flammable, is not a good thing to put into your engine or your gas tank. Cars arent designed for it, and you'd probably make your engine go kaput...

Which, when you think about it would get you great gas mileage, because you wont have anything that will use up gas!

 

only thing i have heard about doing that is to increase octane, but i belive it was put to bed as crap.

 

yea, if it was good for gas mileage it would be added already.

 

Tried it about a year ago....no difference in fuel mileage.

The ONLY way to increase octane is to add MMT. MMT is found is some of the octane boost roducts.
