Not to be an *** but a small search here or google and you could have found the answer. I found it here by googleing when I had the same prob. But here goes anyway....
I bet you tryed to eject a CD and it got hung up just before comming all the way out. If that DID happen and the CD "door" is open, just get a couple credit cards and use em kinda like plyers. just pull it out and it should work fine. Ifin your CD "door" isnt open im outta guesses LOL. But that has worked for me several times now hope it works for you too!

8 tracks are for geriatrics that belong in nursing homes.
But I got something better than both ya'll...i got IPOD bizatch!!!
I dont have to change no cd's or 8 tracks. I just hit the button on the remote and it goes to the next song...
also to answer the questions...my did this, on and off since I bought my car last Oct, so I finally just got tired of and put in a new headunit and integrated it into my mach 460 subs and speakers, and now don't have to worry about it. It's a problem with the Visteon Mach 460 head unit, cause they are junk. I get way better sound out of my Pioneer w/ my mach 460 amps and speakers, than I ever did out of that mach 460 head unit.

AM/FM/Single Disc CD Player
Mach 460 Head Unit, Amplifiers, Speakers (460 Watts Total)
Mach 1000 Head Unit, Amplifiers, Speakers, 2 Subwoofers (1000 Watts Total)
there are 2 pictures posted below.
1 is the Mach 460 Head Unit the other is an Ipod.
An Ipod is a music player that holds compressed music, and can hold thousands of digital crystal clear music, there for negating the need for a worthless cd's that get warped by the sun's rays, heat, and can get scratched or dirty, of which also reduces fumbling for cd's and/or 8 tracks, and reduces accidents.
And finally to the bizatch.....that would be you.

My 01 GT did that, couldnt really figure out what was going on so when i could only play 1 cd and i had a couple of other issues i traded it in on 07 . But good luck on finding a cure, i think you are going to have to switch head units to truly remedy this problem.

The head units in both my GT and Mach have this problem, along with the cd door open "error". In addition, they both also have reading problems with disc slots 4 and 5 and have a tendency to cut groves in the cd's in those slots. My advice would be to get an aftermarket headunit, Ford's OEM system really does suck. Eventually, I'll be replacing both systems with something else, but right now that is so far down the list, I'm willing to put up with the crappiness.

Hell I went and put in a JVC CD/CRW 12disc cd changer in the trunk, so I would have the mp3 availability since I have tons of mp3'd on my pc I wanted to play. And still have use of the normal 6 disc changer if I want to play a normal CD.
And BTW dont stick a CDR in a factory disc player, it will 1. get stuck trying to play it or 2. will play it perfectly, but will end up never ejecting it as well.
And mixedbreed - how the hell you access the ipod if you want to add more songs to it, unless you take it apart everytime you do?
