supercharger question/help
Ok so i've got a 2001, Stock Billet Mustang GT.
I want to drop a SC in, what is the HIGHEST amount of boost I can run on stock pistons/headers/cams and what not?
And is putting a SC on a stock GT, is it even worth taking the risk? How much RWHP will I get running say... 7-10 lbs of boost?
Let me know! Thanks!

wrong section moving.
As for the blower question its not the boost (so to speak) its the hp. the stock internals are safe for 400rwhp thats about it. So any car with 10-12psi of boost and full exhuast is gonna be for the most part right near that. assuming a good blower. There is alot of different blowers so its hard to say that for sure but for an intercooled setup thats a safe bet. Dont worry about highest boost, worry about the amount of power your car makes and the tune. The tune will make or break your motor.

Ok
So, you are saying the stock gt with full exhaust can handle a blower and is capable of pushing 400 HP with the tune?
If I was pushing around 370-390 would that be safe, if I had a good tune and full exhaust, with an intercooled blower?
*edit*
and sorry for wrong section, first time to the boards

get a Mongoose Kit from modularpowerhouse.com they are the leading shop for superchargers. they have about 15 cars that are over 600hp. and theyre street driven too. they offer a kit that includes everything that you need for about 3500. (s/c, spark plugs, fuel pump, fuel injectors, necessary tubing, hardware, ect). they also ship you an XCAL2 (the tuner that allows you to safely run a supercharger). all you need to do is get it dyno'd and make sure the air fuel ratio it correct. ive seen as much as 406hp/412tq at the wheels out of a vortech v2sq (one of the smaller superchargers). ask around their forum for unanswered question that you have (www.modularpowerhouse.com/forums)
also, do the install yourself. all you need are rachets, a torque wrech, and a hole punch (if ur getting a vortech).

The stock motor has two limitations....boost and may hp. The max boost that you can safely run is about 12 psi. Most folks run 8 - 10. Mak hp is about 400 to 425 rwhp. You can run more hp if you can do so at less boost.
That is to say that if your setup is efficient, you can get away with a bit more power and will make more power at lower levels of boost.
IMO, I would set your car up to run 10 lbs and take what hp you get so long as it is not much over 400.
I run around 380 rwhp with my blower setup to give myself a little breathing room.

3500 is probably a price you can't beat.
A shop install will run you like a grand or so, then a dynotune will run you like...500 bucks.
If I were you, I probably woudln't try to install a blower myself... there are a number of good blowers...
Vortech, Procharger, Kenne Bell or w/e it is... ect...
But like Spike Africa said, once you push over 400hp on it..you might want to have some internal work done...

install the blower yourself it will take a weekend if you work on it for a few hours a day. find a dyno that has a wideband and do some air/fuel checks.

I've seen a couple bullits that Apex has done and they all at the time got rode hard on a daily basis.
The bullit intake makes great use of the blower and 400rwhp isn't uncommon on 8-10lbs.
The job usually takes a full 8 man hours for the mechanical install if done by someone that's done it before. Add an hour and a half or so for tuning. Normal prices for shops like Apex that specialize in hot rodding American muscle cars and custom tuning is usually in the 80-110/hr range. The labor rate seems expensive till you figure that joe sixpak's garage down the street charges about the same and he doesn't know what specialty shops do.

Labor rates for performance shops are not as expensive as people think. Like Colin said call any local repair shop.. Auto Dealers charge $120+ and smaller shops are AT LEAST $80 an hour in the bay area. What they do not offer is the expertise of experience in high performance.
