Default Another Supercharger question.

I am looking to S/C my car later this year. I am trying to gain maybe 100-150Hp. What S/c kit would best for what I want? What do I need to do to my motor before I get a s/c. I am not looking to change my motor. I just want to upgrade the one I have as much as I can and still be safe.

hell even a 12psi kit form ati will be fine. but for that kinda boost to keep it daily driver freindly a dyno tune is a must. My freinds v6 is rocking 13psi from his 12psi pulley ati kit runs strong as hell and he drives it everyday.

12 psi seems kind of steep, not many people run that much boost on the stock motor

10 is the most i have heard on stock , but to be honest, it mainly depends on the tuning and making sure the driver knows not to redline or you can go ahead and order a new motor..

modularpowerhouse offers mongoose kits such as a Vortech S or SQ trim kit(3770) and a Paxton Novi 2k kit(~4200)...you can also order kenne bell 1.7L or 2.2L (non-intercooled or intercooled) kits if thats what you want...

Another cool thing to worry about would be detonation..personally i dont know too much about it, but i know that bad gas can lead to it and if you have detonation, the motor is toast

All in all, research these brands : Kenne Bell, ATI, Vortech, Paxton ...these are pretty famous and by comparing them, you will learn what you want

good luck

Well to be honest ATI is the only kit i would go past 10psi with. because of there 3core or even the standard 2core intercooler it makes add those 2 extra pounds alot safer, becauase it takes so much heat out of the incomming air. This of course helps keep detonation away.

im just referring to the power that will increase after 10lbs of boost..i understand that an intercooler will make more, but more will eventually lead the stock shortblocks limit....the bad part is that people will read this and think they can run 12 lbs on a stock block if they use an intercooler :laughing5

So with 9-10Lbs of boost how much HP increase will get? And how much should it cost for the kit including install?

no you can run 12psi as long as you dont go to far over 400rwhp. on a stock block.

And i was describing the intercooler as i'm sure some people dont know what it does.
a stock or lightly modded GT wont make over 400rwhp with a 12psi ati kit will it? i dont see it happening and i cant remember ever hearing of any that did. But i could be wrong.

ps- anyone know how much Hp a GT will make with there 10psi kits? i am curius.

the 3core intercooler is a restrictive piece. running a stock motor i would get the 2core. using a 2core cooler and a 3.3 inch pulley you might see 360-380 on a 5speed @ 10-11 psi

yeah so with the 3core or even the 2core and a 12psi pulley i dont see it being a big probelm. breaking the motor i mean. But for cars with like an assload of mods a 12psi pulley porbibly isnt a good idea.

ps-dom nice car. what does she run and how does it handle with the drag springs and whatnot? i am getting ready to get teh steeda drag pack for mine in a few weeks or months.

but that price is if you buy from them, if you didnt, then you pay 550 for install and like 560 for a dynotune
