No it controls the nitrous solenoids and tell them when to activate and de-activate. For example you can choose for them to open up at 3k and shut down at redline lets say 5200.

No problemo. I am too it's my first kit and I haven't even installed it or used it. But I've been researching it and the other two power adders now for almost 6 years.

For some reason I dont know if the stock signal is very accurate or not. I have the MSD tach driver installed inline with my ignition wires. So I use the signal wire coming from the tach driver to run all my stuff. The Progressive controller i have uses this same wire for its RPM input. When I look at my digital tach on the controller, it always tells a different reading than what my stock tachometer shows........The digital tach always shows about 100-200rpm more than the stock tach shows. So when my stock tach shows 2800....my window switch is already cutting on because my MSD tach driver is showing 3000rpm. I dont know which one is more accurate??? I would say the MSD is, but does anyone else know?
I have the switch now cutting off at 5600. Thats so it cuts off just when I need to shift. The n20 actually holds the revs for about 100rpm so you dont start feeling less power until 5800rpm. I dont like to rev the motor very high.

Yea it's not the signal it's the actual tach. Stock Ford Gauges= worthless.
