Default Tach adapter isnt Working

Has anyone here installed the MSD tach adapter before?

I cant get mine to work. I went to the dealer and got a printout of the cars wiring system. I found the white/blue wire. Thats supposed to be the right wire that you hook the adapter up to isnt it? I tried the red wire but it didnt work either. I took one of the switches back for an exchange and the new one wont work either.

Heres how I have it wired: I have both red wires (from the adapter) hooked to the white/blue (ignition) wire. So I wired the adapter "inline" with the ignition wire. Then I have the ground going to the same ground as the battery. Those connections alone should have it working.

I hooked my shift light up to it correctly but it never worked. I hooked my window switch up to it and it didnt work.

Is this the way anyone else has wired it? Thats how the instructions say to do it.

Ford racing has a harness to add a tach to. Its about 30 bucks. Id say get that if you are having problems. Ive never been fond of tapping into factory wiring.

I have an AutoMeter adapter, but it should basically be the same. When you tied the red wires to the ignition wire did you make sure not to tie all the wires back together?

No it should be hooked up correctly I think. The car runs fine with it hooked up like it is now. If it was not wired up correctly the car wouldnt even run. I am clueless now. I think I might just go with the adapter from ford like someone said above. Does anyone know the part number?
