How is your red line that hight? Did you set it that high with a tuner?

I just dont understand why anyone would wanna set the Rev limiter higher than stock. You get no more power and you run the risk of floating a valve.

well since I did open up my exhaust on my almost stock GT I can speak from experience.. I had a CAI when I added SLP LT's, SLP Off-Road X-pipe and my Steeda Cat-back... and guess what.. I lost MPG. Why do you think that is? First off backpressure is NOT ALWAYS A BAD THING! Like dom said.. stock cars NEED backpressure. I did gain a very noticeable difference at 4000 RPM and up but I also noticed a BIG LOSS in the lower RPM range. It was sorta nice because it did make the car easier to daily drive. I gained all that power back after tuning the car because I was running lean.. I had to have more fuel added because the air/exhaust was flowing more freely (I had added a TB and plenum combo by tune time). So let's see.. if you do a lot of mods that lets air/exhaust flow more freely on yoru car you're going to need to add more fuel to your tune in order to keep the right a/f ratio. My car was starving for gas and the dyno lines showed it.. of course by adding more fuel I gained more HP.. I've always read that the more HP the make, the more fuel you're gonna have to use.
