Default Gas Mileage???

alright, i just installed my magnflow O/R X and there is a huuuge exhaust leak at the headers....now i also noticed that my car is sucking up gas like an alcoholic at a keg party...is this due to the huge exhaust leak or the fact that im runnin an O/R X now? please tell me its because of the leak (which can be fixed) and not that fact that im runnin with no cats.....

I'm not sure how GTs compare to Cobras with O/R X-pipes, but when I put mine on with the catback, I noticed I gained about 1.5-2 mpg. I think I may have a slight exhaust leak also. You really should gain gas mileage if anything since the engine is more efficient now. I guess there is the possibility that there is not enough back pressure though. Does the car seem faster at all?

If you have an exhaust leak as you descibe witht he X pipe, you will run very rich hence the poor fuel economy. What happens is that air gets sucked over the 02 sensors which gives the ECU a false lean situation and thus fuel gets added. If more than 30% is added, you should pop an SES.

Fix the leak and problem should be solved.

Should get much better when the leak is fixed if you are actually running rich.
