yea a lot of people are stashing them like you, you aren't the first person to tell me that. I'm hoping to find one in fairly decent condition so I can paint it up and make it look nice.

How much did those Ford GT covers cost you? I want a set of those, but they cost a lot everywhere that I've looked.

Well, got my engine all put together and got it sitting in there last night. Hopefully will get it finished tonight so I can at least start it. Got the crank balanced and bit the bullet and got a Canton 7qt. pan. The trans coolerlines hit the side sump, but it's ok I guess, a little tweaking needed. Got new Energy Suspension mounts, too. Degreed the cams and found one side was off 9 degrees and the other side was w/in 1/2 degree of spec. Is this normal for this to be that far off?? I tried calling the Comp Cams tech line yesterday but they were closed. I just filed the keyway on the sprocket to get it on spec. I have the 1 piece lower sprocket. Seems kinda odd to me but hopefully all is well.

it's not uncommon for there to be 12 degrees or better of bank:bank cam timing slop from the factory.

Congratulations ... I know you're happy !!!

Do you regret splurging for the oil pan? Actually I think you made a good decision on modifying your oiling system. IMO ... whenever you get a little more spare change, get you an oil cooler of some sort and you'll run a lot cooler.

Not even gonna think about beating on it til I get it tuned and get ALL issues worked out. It still has a terrible tune on it right now. I will drive it around nice and easy just to get some miles on it and break it in a little, but other than that, I am waiting for the dyno appointment.

Well massive fail going to the tuner yesterday. As soon as I pulled up he said he could hear my exhaust leaking pretty badly still, and told me to wait for the dyno tune until I had fixed the exhaust...

However I wasnt planning on fixin the exhaust and just nabbing some of the long tubes lol.

Anyone know of a used set of the FTP or other longtubes floating around?

Bob has instructed me to tell you guys that need your intake manifold to begin calling HPS now and he'll begin taking orders and money. He has 6-7 intakes ready at this time. As I understand it they're 735 shipped.

The machine shop had an issue or the whole order would be done by now. In any case, they are now available. He's held one for me but you all are first come, first served. Hurry.

As soon as I get back from Mustang Week that will priority number 1.

For better news, finally got around to doing some racing last night....I'm relatively happy with how she performed all in all. Not to bad. The longtubes will help for sure though.

I use autolite 103 and 104 depending on the situation

Guys... you might want to check out http://www.modularheadshop.com/Articles/54%20intake.htm and go to the intakes page and check the 5.4 intake update.... there's something there that you might enjoy.

Thanks for the plug recomindations. Are ya'll still gaping (for NA) around the mustang's?

R3d that intake makes me cream myself. that thing looks sick. Im guessing it'll kill the low end though?

I have NGK TR6's #4177. This is a colder heat range for SC though. If you have a NA, you can just get Motorcraft F-150 plugs. I'd use Motorcraft or Autolite only in your case.

It shouldn't "kill" it but it will probably drop a little tq from 1000-3000. I wouldn't expect to lose much more than 10-20lbs at 2k but it's definitely a case where you're also going to need some lumpy cams and big heads to match the intake and so your combo would also dictate appropriate gears like 3.73 or higher which would completely negate the actual loss by getting it higher in the RPM's quicker. I would expect midrange and top end gains to be subtantial as long as the combo is otherwise right.

In any case, keep in mind that it's not exactly going to turn into a dog. It's still a pretty beefy motor in an otherwise modestly sized vehicle. There's a baseline of performance that I don't think you'll be going under anytime soon.

I'm sure with a properly spec'd cams for your application, that intake is only going to help HP and torque. Throw some random OTS cams in it and yeah its probably not going to run the best.
