Man it's pretty tight in there! The header on the right side touches, not sure what I'm gonna do about that. There isn't much room between the left side valve cover and the hydroboost unit, either. Hood clearance seems like it's gonna be REAL tight to say the least. Hopefully I won't have any problems, but well see. Other than that, it's in there I guess. I had to fight it a little between the header touching on one side and the valve cover touching the master cylinder on the other. I also noticed since it is a little taller than the 4.6 that the heater hose fittings are a little tight and the one heater hose interferes with the coil on plug connector. Nothing I can't handle, but...........

Looks good... one thing I noticed. You still have the 19# injectors on there. You may notice that above 5000 RPM, the injector goes static. That is not good for the long term life of the injectors. You might be better off going to at least 24#ers.

the headers touching the frame won't cause any issues, just make sure the ac lines are clear of it. i torched hunters ac line when i drove it to the dyno.

Default injectors

I have the 19's in there for now. I have some 24's, but I won't put them in until I can get a dyno tune.

if anyone needs a set of 21/22lbs injectors cheap LMK. I'm done with them. About 20k miles on this set. For any of you guys I'll let them go for a pretty silly low price, so make an offer. They're about the minimum you should have for a 5.4 with with a bunch of bolt ons.

I have a pair of 03 cobra fuel pumps and a SVT focus pump, cobra pumps are used, focus pump is new but has a little bit of plastic busted off the connector. Should not be a problem. I didn't need them.

I misses my car.

What did you guys use for the plenum gasket on the HPS? the O-ring? I'm thinkin about using the earlier style that is more of an actually gasket.

Has anybody ever gone to their mechanic with the hopes that the car might be ready to pickup only to be told "probably not today, but feel free to have at it, if you see a missing bolt, put it in... here are the bolts, and use any tools you like"....

RTV for both for me. Easiest to deal with.

Every time I go they're happy to have me help. My car is custom enough that me helping speeds the figure-out time up a bit. Mostly though I try to stay out of the way like my life depends on it. I try to give them that respect, especially since I don't allow but 1 shop to work on my car.

fuel pumps no, not until probably 300-325rwhp or so.

The injectors will be 55 shipped for anyone that wants them. They're already removed and can be shipped Monday.

the other reason being it costs more in labor than in parts to do something like this.

The stock MAF is good to ~400-450hp before it starts pegging normally. It's more than sufficient for power levels you can feed with 24lbs injectors.

When you refer to the "stock MAF", are you referring to the stock MAF on a factory 4.6 Mustang GT (any special year ... ???), or the 5.4 truck engine (again, any particular year) ... ???

Thanks again for all the great information. I'm saving it all.

Same as the 4.6, 19s. Not sure if any of them got 22s though.

alright, well I resealed the intake, changed a few COPS, plugs are replaced again, and repacked a few injectors. She runs, no codes, no missfires. BUt there is nothing under that gas ped at all. No power, and feels like it loses it when you give it gas.

timing, tune?

The stock MAF on the 4.6 Mustang is more than adequate up to about 450 hp. There is a very big misconception about MAF vs. injectors. Your stock MAF will work with any injector you plan to use. It is all up to your tuner to adjust the scalars within the tune to compensate for the larger injectors. Plus the MAF transfer function needs to be tweaked some for the best results.

I think the 3V 5.4's got the 21/22 (pink) injectors.

19's predominantly. 21/22's may be on 04+ but I'm not sure.

stock mustang MAF for your year car is suitable for most builds. Your tuner should be the one to tell you you need a bigger one. Nobody else is qualified really.

sounds like the tune hates you. I'm betting you've got a pretty pig rich sitch happening.

dang, ive got a full set used from the 5.4 engine when i bought it

ended up checking the check engine codes finally and i did have an intake leak, so got new gaskets and pulled it apart and just finished putting it back together. hopefully that did the trick

Default Feeler - Alright guys, its going on the block - 02 GT 5.4 2v swap

I am putting it up for sale. Got pretty much all the bugs worked out, only thing she needs is a tune. That computer is a little confused at the moment with that displacement. I have been driving it around, no lights, no codes, no missfires, no smoke, no pressure or cooling problems. Heres the list:

Engine/Trans:
5.4 2v from 2001 F150. Everything less than 40 miles since install
New head gaskets and bolts
New oil pump and pickup
New water pump
Prof. Products adaptor plates with new intake gaskets
24 Lb. FMS Injectors
C&L plenum
75mm Accufab TB
90mm Lightning MAF
Fadenza aluminum flywheel
New performance clutch
Short shifter
Ford Racing headers
Custom made O/R pipes to SLP Loudmouths
Etc, etc, etc

Exterior:
Mineral gray
Head/Tail blackouts
Mach 1 grill
2.5" lowered
17x10.5 Fr500 black on back with new Nitto 285's
17x9 bullets on the front with good runner

Interior is tan/brown with tan leather
6 disk premium sound

I am sure I am missing a bunch. What it needs. First is a tune. With that motor, that MAF and those injectors this thing is a little confused. I have talked to several people that have done the swap and they confirm. Other than that I have put all OEM parts back on. AC needs to be charged.

Let me know if you have any questions. If you would like to see certain pics let me know, or you can get on the builds section on htownracing.com and see what it looks like.

I need $7,350.00 for it the way it sits. I am in no hurry to sell, and as I get more done the price will go up. As you will see there are hours and hours of blood and sweat in this one.

I believe it is a 5/8 NPT. Mine had a mickey mouse barb fitting that had a 1/2" barb. I got a brass fitting at Napa that had a 3/4 heater hose nipple end, not a barb. The hose that connects to it on my car is a 3/4" molded heater hose, so it now fits perfect. I believe it was about $7 and it was in stock.

5/8 NPT. I used a bunch of adapters for the crossover to work and the heater line ends up connecting to a -10 hose barb which works out to 5/8". A 3/4" would fit the hose tighter though and not rely on the screw clamp so much like I did.

To make you feel better....the person may have entered a max bid way higher than that, but it just jumped over you by one increment....

Besides, you don't want that, you want a side entry Cobra blower and a Lightning lower and just make/modify the mounting plate between them...

Couple more 3v questions..... My online searches for prices on head bolts and head gaskets have only turned up references to around $400 for them, is that true? Can 2v bolts and gaskets be used?

Lets say I bought a brand new 5.4 3v, could the bolts and/or gaskets be re-used if I pulled the heads to port them? I'm thinking gaskets yes, should be no different than if you backed off the bolts to re-torque....and bolts probably no, they've been stretched are torque to yield.... Thoughts? I can't justify pulling heads to port them if I have to spend $400 to put them back on....
