Yeah I didn't mean to type that out, I think I meant NA and not SC.

The record for low cost was just under 500 bucks all in. That guy did all his own work and used mostly stock parts. He ended up making 481rwhp on a 175 shot.

Figure 735 shipped for an intake manifold and then whatever the motor, labor and any upgrades you do add to that. The intake is the only special part you'll need in most cases.

sorta is... it's also inclusive of non-turbo and non-nitrous.

Intakes are available. Spread the word.

I am using the 01' Lightning plugs on my 5.4L. Non-pi block with pi heads. 2 steps colder than the 4.6L I was using. I believe they are the FM1 plugs.

I don't think it really makes a difference. They're shorties either way. You can also use stock manifolds if you don't feel like buying a set of shorties.

I'm just planning on picking up the first used set I come across, but I have to get 4v ones. Hopefully I'll find somebody selling some fairly cheap. I've come across a lot of good deals so far and I hope I manage to keep doing that throughout the entire process because I've been saving a lot of money going with used parts.

Shorties are pretty much not worth the effort. If you're going short tube stick with stock manifolds.

the swap from factory manis to frpp shorties made almost no diff on my first swap, i didnn't even feel a diff. now on hunters, the swap from JBA's to LT's was insane the diff it felt like.....

i'm talking to tj to bump the LT project up to the front of the line to get a couple sets whipped up in the next couple weeks for the people that have called.

LT's make a difference you can feel, that's for sure. They're pricey but if you want that last 20hp and the top end to open up a bit, it's how to get it.

that's entirely your decision. They are something more to "live with" and there are downsides. Clutch jobs get expensive, reduced ground clearance... etc. But man... the sound.

Hopefully by the time (IF) it comes out I will have longtubes on the car as well.

ground clearance might not be an issue, on hunters car they were higher then the BBK's on the 4.6

I'm gonna talk to my local shop and see what he can do for a set of headers. They seem to like me over there so maybe I can work out a set for less than what FTP charges.

Not a chance. I already paid for custom headers... you don't want to spend that much money. Trust me. Just get the FTP's and be thankful.

1996: I think you'll be a good use case when/if the new intake comes out. I'll use it... betting tommy will too.

Got me a HPS intake ordered yesterday. Took the shorties off my list and started tear down of the 5.4

Is a 30 over bore going to give me any added advantage? Or should i stay stock bore?

most of us did a .020 overbore. It helps unshroud the valves. .030 over is as far as I'd take an iron block.

would i benefit any with the .030 over vs the .020 over? They both cost $150 to have the local machinist do the boring and the pistons cost the same.

maybe... not enough to care about but it's your call. I'd do .020 and leave yourself a .010 overbore in reserve just in case.

Huh this is true lol. I was thinking like holy crap august and didnt even think thats next month.

Anyways the way he talked they are going to increase the primaries size on the LT's a little and do a little more tweaking to better fit the starter and such. Should be interesting.
