Those headers look awesome! New info for today and questions anyone tried using the torktech kit? Was thinking of using their lower w adapter plates they have and a stock "heaton". Possible better hood clearence? Maybe just a r hood or something similar? Thinking of swapping back to stock for meantime and selling off the bolt ons to help out immediate funding too. Just a thought I had... I called and they said the main bracket was drilled for the 4.6 and the 5.4. Only other thing would be pulleys right? They machine a stock balancer to adapt the blower pulley to it and eliminate vibration issues... anyone else care to checkout and chime in I watched the lightning swap on youtube and now its got me thinking why stop at just a swap lol!

Thumbs up WELL ACCOMPLISHED - CONGRATS !!!

Yall's header fabrication and production deserve's accolades of the highest order !!!

I hope folks can appreciate how difficult it is to R & D something like that and then succeed in getting the often STUBBORN big manufacturers to go in production with something like that. I know a man in Greensboro, NC that did that with a firearm (a muzzleloader) and it took him about 3 years to find a company to look at it and finally put it in to production. This is one of the many ways as individuals we show our determination(s) and generosities in this great nation.

I just wanted to send my congratulations. I personally think whoever offers and produces these they somehow "name" the headers after Yall.

SO ... CONGRATS INDEED !!!

Nope sorry I use my g1 for everything and I'm still tryn to learn me way around it ill see what I can come up with though... I youtubed. 5.4 mustang and just kept going through videos til I saw that one it was a silver car I think with big old cut out in hood. Looks neat but that not for me. I'm thinking the torktech might be the ticket and I could always step up to a tvs blowere later

i know this has been beat as much as a dead horse, but what all would be extra involved with going from a 2v mustang to a 4v 5.4? can it be done on a slim budget (2v can be done for about $1000-1200) or is it just too much?

It all depends on what kind of deal you can find, Ebay and craigslist are your friends. But if you're on a tight budget I'd say stick with the 2v, which would basically be buying a running motor, slapping intake (or plates) on it and dropping it in, plus the little odds and ends that come up, like flexplate/flywheel, exhaust tweaking, oil pan swapping, ect.

Guys I need recomindations on where to buy forged Rods/Pistons and on rod bearing and rings.
Got the motor torn down to the crank, and its in good shape so I'm going to just shine it up a little and call it a day.
Twisted wedge heads, and an intake and I should be done I got some nasty cams from modular speed for this guy.
I hope to have this beast running before the end of the year
Thanks for the help
Tim

Well, they're just harder to find, and thus cost more when you do. You can buy the parts and build one but that will probably kill your budget.

if you go 4v buy the complete motor from a navigator that way all you need is an intake but really your only option on that is plates or a sullivan and then you will maybe need the wire harness from a cobra, then just get it tuned bc it probably wont run right without a tune going from 2v 4.6 to 4v 5.4. a good site to look for parts is www.car-parts.com you can find complete engines at a decent price.

So did you use the lightning lower? The torktech would require adapter plates. And a donor blower set up. I could go twins I've always wanted them =) and just build a strong bottom w hps intake and make run for meantime and then save for turbos and just fab up my own headers and pipes I could use all my stuff I got and cut some of the inital cost right from the start

First off BEST STICKY EVER!!!

Never seen one go so long. cant wait to get my "clunker" motor. slap it in, add hps intake, get custom headers, and add at least 125 shot too it. cannot believe how stupid easy this swap is considering others are more $ more pain and less average power and torque.

keep up the good work. maybe someone can get these motors from dealers before they are all locked up and sent overseas for scrap.

Good luck getting a "clunker" motor. There is already a couple on my lot alone, and it saddens me to no end knowing I could have a complete, running motor in a couple hours.

Fact is, dealers have specific instructions; we have to run the "special" solution in the motor at x rpm until it stops running. ALL drivetrain components must remain intact. Removing the motor breaks the rules of the program, and the dealer might have to eat that $4500. They more than likely wont risk it.
