ya i have a 96 cobra and im using the top end off of it. im having mmr widen my intake so i can use it with my heads.

if i were you i wouldnt use adapter plates. id try to find an intake that will fit the navi heads if thats what your using. i dont have any personal experience with plates but all these guys swear against them. the have sealing issues and as they say a band aid on a broken bone haha. keep us updated on your progress bud. its always nice to see another 4v guy.

i gotcha, yea there isnt that many 4v guys like us, ive been wanting this motor for a while and got it not too long ago. they are just widening the lower intake on yours? how much is it if u dont mind me asking? im putting this motor in my 96 gt and from what im hearing about the awesome feel of the 5.4 2v swap, i cant wait to see how the navi motor feels. did u get your motor yet?

A 5.4l 4v would be sweeeeeeeeT! I was going to do a "B" headed 5.4l in my '96 gt, but it got pushed out for a cheaper route, a 5.4l 2v.
I was going to use a Sullivan intake with some adapter plates I had made.

Good luck finding an intake!

If I can't get a set of ported TFS heads pretty soon I may be doing my own 4v conversion.

EDIT: Just talked to TEA and they're working on a program for sure. I'm trying to become first to get a set from them. They're talking 280's-290's intake flow. You guys wanna try to set up a GP? Folks gotta have like 2500 bucks to drop at minimum in all likelihood.

no they are widening the lower and upper intake. and im not sure when my engine will be here. i wouldnt think it would take more than a week and a half though. it will probably beat my intake here lol. then i just gotta buy gaskets and headbolts and were good to go.

dang r3d thats a very pretty penny for a set of heads. for paying that much you should go with your gut and go 4v

for 2500 i think i'd look at navi heads and a sullivan intake. if this motor works like i'm dreaming it should, i'll do another one with 4v just to compare against the 2v.

Thing is I have a pretty nice intake as it sits and ported TFS heads are less than ported 4v heads for close to the same flow numbers and takes a lot less mucking about with the top end (plus I have 2v cams already). It's a real thinker.....

true. if mine makes decent power i'll be looking at a set also. i'd hate to have to buy 4v turbo cams.....

Do as I did and grab a repair manual for the year and vehicle that your 5.4 came out of. I'm waiting on mine to come in, but different generations have different specs. I'll try and post the specs outta my manual when it arrives.

really the stock 4.6 oil pump makes enough pressure to run on a 800hp engine. but if you put a stiffer spring you'll get higher pressure.

from what i remember, at WOT the mod motor makes 100psi oil pressure.

Default vibrtion

i know this doesnt belong here, but I figured i'd ask the elites before i posted a thread...

engine ran good, but i wanted to swap the aluminum FRPP flywheel for billet steel while i was fixing the rear main seal. After doing so i got a nasty vibration, not so strong if your hand is on the intake, but strong if your sitting in the drivers seat. The vibration usually starts at 3k rpms, and over. I did do some prying on the passanger header that touches the frame rail, but i'm not under the impression that that ever caused any problem because it has always touched there. the old flywheel (i believe) was not modified in the engine balancing process. the new one and old one are zero balanced, so it doesnt make any sense to me...

any thoughts?

ibanez i had a vibration like that after a shop changed my clutch and put in the spec i have now. they said i would notice a vibration, not a bad one but still a vibration, because i had a bent dowel. i dont know why they didnt just replace them then but thats what caused mine. so your dowel pins might be causing it.

im sure you put the flywheel on the right way but did you tighten the bolts in a criss cross pattern or just go around the circle?

I had a vibration too, I believe it was do to one of the dowels missing on the flywheel.

Vibration AFTER 3000rpm's? And the only thing you did was change the flywheel?................Never assume anything! The FRPP was just fine and now you have vibration from a changed flywheel.

I would bet the flywheel you have now has alot of windows machined out for weight reduction, while the FRPP was a solid piece. Machining those windows would mean the manufacturing would have to machine out exactly the same amount of window on opposite sides(180*) of the flywheel. While the FRPP was just a turned solid pc.
Call the flywheel company and tell them what has happend, some one out there has had the same problem or your flywheel could be a deffect.
Hope this helps

I have vibration at low rpms till about 1300rpm's. I also have solid motor mounts.
