one more question i just thought of.....i know its not really a biggy but....i am put the 5.4 in a 97...so i have 2 coolant sensors...i am wanting to use the new 5.4 hardball'r...is there a way i can adapt that intake to use both temp sensors??
i noticed that hps sells a coolant mod...what is that for??

I installed mine from the top with the trans attached. It was a little tight getting it bye the brake booster, but it did drop right in. The key is to install it without the intake manifold attached and bolt your chains to the alternator bosses at the front and the upper 2 trans mount bolts at the rear. I also used a load leveler, which made manuvering the engine & trans much easier. You can see in this picture...

r3d, can you post up some more information about the oil separator you installed? I think I am sucking oil into the intake manifold, and into the engine. I just changed the oil the other day and only ~3.5 of the 6 quarts came out. Plus I am having oil spitting out of the exhaust. Any thoughts?

Hi All! > Im wanting to do this, and it will be pretty **** if it all works out:
stock 5.4 (to start with) (have a melted piston 4.6 laying around)
apaptor plates, Stiegemeier ported/chromed out saleen series 2 @ 6-8 psi including tork tech polished metal elbow and huge oval t-body. (already have all the blower stuff)
I know its listed in this thread somewhere but can someone give me an outline of the pieces that need changing to fit into a stang.
This is all going in a 2004 Sonic blue gt with complete 03/4 cobra body conversion and interior. If someone can help me out that'd be awesome, i plan on ordering an engine within a week or so!

sure...
You'll need a 3/8"NPT water/oil air separator from your local Lowes/Home Depot. It'll have a clear base and should not leak air under pressure or vacuum. If it does, use epoxy to seal the leak. IT IS NOT A REGULATOR. I'll post the part number later on.
Then, you use -6NPT barb fitting at the PVC valve into a -6 AN teflon core braided hose, run that to the inlet of the filter, and another -6 line out. Tap the upper plenum at the PCV inlet for 3/8" NPT and screw in a 3/8NPT male to -6AN male adapter, screw on your hose and viola... you're filtering.
Please see my home page www.squarerootofone.com/sroprods.html for more detail on the OAS. If you'd like to build one or order one, let me know and I'll hook you up.

Definitely not. I may do a centri after not too long though.

coolant mod keeps the back cylinders on the driver side cool. There's a flow flaw stock that doesn't do well at higher temps like hot rodders see.
The sensor question has been answered. Use a Tee or tap and thread the crossover for the 2nd 3/8" NPT hole. There's a boss cast in to support it IIRC.

working on it...
Looking like around 425rwhp. Set up the fuel for at least 500bhp. A bigger or more efficient blower will net bigger power at the same boost. The 425 is un-intercooled. Intercooling would be worth around 25hp or so at the same boost pressure.

that was based on DD's vision of what a V1 is and discounts the headers and intake entirely... the dyno sim just uses a stock "forced induction exhaust" and intake value which skews the numbers a bit. I need to verify the flow data for the blower as well.
Consider that a v1 on a 4.6 at 10psi does about 70hp less than you're seeing... it's not bad. You lose some boost out of the valve overlap with your cam too. You can afford to bump the pulley size down a notch though and that should get you close. What reads 12psi at the manifold will probably end up 10psi in the cylinder.

Thanks guys I will have a better daylight video soon, I gotta say I did a first gear WOT and at 8 psi and 10-1 a/f the thing pulled like my old 9 second Wild street car. Seat of the pants feel and head thrown back was unlike any 4.6 i have been in.
