You're seriously going to do a GT500 swap?

That's too much money IMHO. Not worth it.

Find a wrecked Cobra and steal the 4.6l out of it. Saves weight and with light bolt-ons and some minor weight reduction you'll be able to spank a pre-2010 GT500.

For that kind of money you could buy a Cobra to play and keep your current car as a daily driver imo

Since you're new I'll mention that a "Termi" is a common Mustang community slang term for an '03-'04 Cobra. If you already knew that, forgive me. I just don't know how new you are to Mustangs and I don't want you to be confused with the terminology.

Anyway, you can look for Termi's on Craigslist in your area, salvage yards, or anything of that sort. If you can find one that was maybe rear-ended and still has a good motor, you can pull the motor out of it and do a swap.

Or, you can just keep the car you have now and supercharge or turbocharge it.

ok thanks black sunshine I am not familiar with the terminology so thanks and does anyone know where I could get a fully built motor that only needs a tranny attatched? besides getting one out of a wrecked stang because I want a brand new mustang motor with a good bit of horse power i am now in a v6 and in about a year I want to swap motors so I was just trying to get some insight on where I could get a motor fully assembled just need a tranny. thanks for any advice.

You could probably turbo or s/c your car and beat the average GT, but if you want a V8, then your best bet is what they all said, find a wrecked 03-04 Cobra and drop it in tranny and all.

If you have 18K to buy the motor alone, why not sell your V6 and buy a complete car. Besides if you are looking to swap just the motor and trans, you are going to need to do somethign with the V6 rear end as well. I doubt it would handle that much power. Plus I am not sure if the brakes would be adequate for 500+hp.

Swaps are not as simple as just putting in a motor and calling it a day. There is going to need to be some electrical work to get everything to work. Its going to cost you a good chunk of change to get everything running right.

You will be much better off buying a nice 03-04 Cobra and calling it a day. They are running high teens to mid 20s I would imagine.

Shadows got a point. If you're going to buy a brand new 03-04 Cobra motor then you're going to pay close to 12k without buying the trans, which is another 3-4k for a t-56 6-speed. You'd be better off just buying a new car and already having the work done for you.

There isn't anything wrong with a used motor. Especially if you buy it from a wrecked Cobra, usually there isn't a single thing wrong with it.

You actually have a better chance of getting a totally fucked motor when you buy a used car, because you don't know how bad its been driven or how well it was taken care of.

Most of the wrecked Cobras I've seen were low mileage that were barely driven but just got rear-ended or side swiped and got totalled because of the cost to repair it.
