Oil Pressure Gauge Question

Oil Pressure Gauge Question
Wondering if anyone's got any ideas for a problem my 2000 mustang gt has been giving me.
The oil pressure gauge stays in the red when the engine is cold. After about five minutes, it jumps up to normal pressure. There doesn't seem to be any strange sounds or problems that I can find. The car runs great, but I'd really like to fix this before it does cause something serious.
I did some normal maintenance (changed the oil, fuel filter, air filter) and still have the same problem.
I've got to say I've been really impressed with my mustangs reliability. I bought it in December 2000 and this is the first problem I've ever had with it.

very common problem on 1999 up Ford cars and trucks. they have had issues wth a defective oil pressure senders, there is a new and improved sender out now, part # 6U5Z-9278-D and sells for @$10.00
we have them if you can't find 1

easy to-do, think its a 7/8" wrench needed and the sender is down next to the oil filter on the housing

it'll take you all of 2 minutes to do the swap and you don't even really have to jack up the car to do it. I've already done it but I broke my original sender getting the factory oil filter off... thing was nuts tight.
