Check out posts from Mustangboards member "machnjo". You will find a nice yellow stang with black fr500's or I'm sure he'll see this and post some pics up sooner or later as well.

Nope, 18's are too much rotating weight. Your quartermile time suffers as a result.

I'm actually going to go and look at Goldrush's old (manhattan mustangs) FR500's on saturday that his friend owns now. If they are in good shape, I am buying them from his friend. Go to the for sale section on MM for pics.

if your worried about rotating mass.then getting fr500 is not the way to go at all. get a set of welds. 15x10 and 15x4 would be awesome

When i got my 18's on my car it was a .2 difference consistant and it pissed me off and made me regret getting them, but i still like the look better. So expect to be slower for sure, and my car was stock went from a 14.2 to 14.4's all day.

I has nothing to do with the weight of the wheel. It has to do with the rotating weight. It is kinda like a blower pulley. The smaller the pulley, the more revolutions it can make per second which equals more boost. A larger pulley is going to make less revolutions per second and equal less boost. Same principal with wheels.

Aye, you know me well hehe. Here's some pics, the quality isn't the best, but they're ok. I have 18x10s w/ 295/35 KDW2s in back and 17x9s w/ 255/45 KDW2s in front:

The Front tires in these pics are 275/40 KDWS

I think the back rims in this pic where the 17x10.5s w/ KDWS 285/40

it has everything to do with the weight of the wheels. it's not just the weight, either, it's where the weight is located. when the weight is closer to the axle, the rotational inertia is much less than when the weight is further away from the axle. so even if 17's and 18's weighed the same, the 18's will accelerate slower, since the weight is further from the axle.

Aye, I hardly ever go to the track, so I was more interested in the look than the weight. Weight never crossed my mind. The cost on the other hand, nearly gave me a coronary emboli, 18x10s and 295/35 BFGs aren't cheap. Thankfully, the mach isn't my daily driver and I don't beat up on it (much), so the tires will last for a very long time.

yeah, i know what you mean... i got a good deal on my KDW's, but they're not cheap at all. and honestly, w/ a good set of tires (like BFGs) I believe the traction gained more than makes up for the weight difference. i guess you could make the argument that the same tires in 17' would still be faster, but what the hell.

I still have a set of stock 17" GT rims. I'm planning on putting a set of 275/40 DRs on them for when the occasion should arise that I do go the track. It won't look pretty, but who cares, I'll be at the track to drive fast, not win a popularity/show/shine contest hehe, and I won't be stuck with having to drive around town on DRs.
