vt cams please help stg 1or stg 2

Default vt cams please help stg 1or stg 2

ok so i have a 2001 mustang gt auto with all the bolt ons etc etc i am lookin to do vt cams but stage 1 works with stock everythign but i would like to get stage 2 an i know u need to change the springs but it says u need a stall convertor an stuff like that? i have 4.10 gears but i dont have a stall convertor do you really need a stall convertor my car again is an auto or should i just do to vt stage 1 cams? thanks

u can get a way with comp cams stage 2 the 272's with out springs the stage 1's are awaist of time and money trust me

you mean comps 270's they dont go in stages either. But if you get a larger cam that moves the power up the rpm band you will be a dog on the bottom end till the rpms come up (hence the need for a higher stall).

Yes, youll want those supporting mods for the stage 2's. And I wouldnt risk running the 270's without springs.

with 270's you'll have to notch the pistons, unless you have dished pistons. And since they drop so low to hit the pistons, you'll definatly need springs. If you daily drive your car, i'd say go comp 262's. Springs are not needed, and you'll pick up a handfull of power. Only difference between 262's and 270's, is the top end will pull harder.

i hear that some people are paying as much as 650 for some stage 2 cams because nobody can get their hands on them. Too popular i guess right now.

so basically i can get stage 2 with springs an it will work fine with stock heads as longas i get springs? or i would be better just to get stage 1 cams

stg 2 and springs will be fine with stock heads. better with ported heads but just fine with stockers.
