HELP! =) please?
Hi guy's,
I have a stock Saleen and the car is pretty low. I went off of a curb comming out of a parking lot because someone was turning into it and I had to steer a little more to the right but I didnt know that my passenger tire was on the curb while my side was even comming out of the lot and when the passenger wheels came off the curb my car dropped down and hit it since the cars low and I think it pushed the side skirt up abouot 1/8ths of an inch and now whenever I open the door it scraps against the skirt. How much do you guys think it would be to get it fixed? I don't have much money, do you think that the dealership can fix it for free when I go in for a service?

i got it about 2 months ago with 12k miles, 2002.
nothing looks broken or anything, I think that something has just been shifted one way which is causing my door to rub against the fender, since the side skirt is connected to the fender at the bottom, I have a feeling that both are shifted upwards. I will take a picture of it, you cant even notice it.

Not really clear pictures, but the first 2 are of the passenger side and the first pic shows how the spacing between the door, fender, and skirt is really close and the second shows the alignment between the door and the fender.
The 3rd and 4th pictures are pics of the drivers side, which is how it's supposed to look like.
You think that I can get that banged back to normal for free? I don't think I have to pay for any parts, just labor at the very most.

Couple of things. Thanks for the photos, I think l I can tell now what you mean. It does not look too bad, but I am just curious if there is any underside damage. Did you just hit the side skirts and that is it? If so, I would think it is just a minor adjustment.
I am pretty good with minor things like this and have a good friend who is awesome with all the hard stuff. This little hit is one reason why I have not lowered my car or put lowered side skirts on it and these types of bruises are inevitable with setups like this.
In the case where the damage might be more severe, it would be covered under your collision insurance. If you have a $500 deductable, the trick would be to find a shop that can help you make the deductable go away, but for something this minor (as it would seem that it is) I would try to avoid that if possible.
As a little secret, if you were to have hit something in the road and NOT a curb like say an old tire or something that fell off a truck, the damage would be covered under comprehensive with no deductable. Comprehensive claims generally do not affect your insurance rates. So, try to not hit a stationary object next time .

Wurd up on that lowered car business. I have a 2" drop on my car and have to drive it like James Bond just to miss any obstacles in the road.
It doesn't look like there is too much damage. I agrre with #1: Take it to a local shop and see what they think.

I took it to an auto body shop, the one where the authorized saleen dealership told me to go (paid 86 dollars for a regular maintenance: 16 for parts, filter and oil, and 70 for labor!!!!, those money stealers!...I'm never going there again) and the body shop said it would be about 300 to align the side skirt and fender. I believe I can get it done for a lot cheaper since this place is in business with the Saleen dealership/money stealers.
