with all due respect to some of you there are a couple of issues here.

1. Dave04Stang, it's unfortunate your stuff was stolen, and the bastards should rot in hell for stealing, the fact of the matter is that your local police department is probably overwhelmed like most police departments, and have to prioritize the importance of each case. I'm not sure that a $400-500 item makes the top of the list. With that said I'm not saying the police department should have sat back to essentially do nothing. I personally think each police department should have a team of officers that work on these types of issues. Ebay and Craigslist have created a new avenue for people to steal **** and sell it back to the masses.

2. Dave04Stang I could be making some assumptions here and if I'm off basis I apologize in advance. I don't know how involved you were with staying on the police departments case, but let it be a lesson that in today's world the squeaky wheel usually comes out ahead. Coming from somoene who's worked my entire professional career in the public sector you need to stay on their *** when it comes to stuff like this. If that means calling them 3-5 times a day requesting an update that's what you do. When they stop taking your phone calls you show up to the police department asking for an update. If the officer assigned to the case refuses to talk with you then you ask to speak with his boss, if his boss gets tired of talking to you then you keep going up the ladder. If you do that in a respectful and persistant way you will usually get what you want.

3. And this notion of tracking the guy down and whooping some *** and taking a gun with you is just rediculous. I know we are all internet tough guys, but get with the real world people. What good could possibly come out of bringing a gun to confront a guy that stole some **** out of your car? So you show up to his house and pull the gun out and confront the guy? You better be prepared to kill him or be shot back at. Ok, so you don't take a gun and confront the guy. What good can come out of that? You whoop his *** and get arrested for assault because he allegedly stole something from you or he whoops your *** and you end up with medical bills.

I know it's easy for me to say these things because I wasn't the victim, however I've experienced this sort of thing in the past and I know what it feels like to feel completely violated along with having the feeling that some ******* stole something that you worked hard for. I get it, but get with the real world people.

yeah i got you. Just like most all college students I didn't have $250-300 that I was willing to basically gamble/throw away knowing that most likely I'd never get it back. Which is why I didn't bid on it like most people were questioning why I didn't do.

DAVE FTMFW x1,000,000!

stanger00, My viewpoint is from my local area, I'm not calling all law enforcement lazy. I even defended them in this particular situation because of all of the government red-tape.. Maybe you should try reading the majority of the thread before poppin' off at the mouth.
