Found this on ebay... been looking everyday..
***link removed in the mean time***
my escort 9500i was stolen out of my car with the break in. What are the odds someone is selling it in San Marcos (college town i live in) and it comes with no box

I looked up your city's population to determine the chances of it being a coincidence or not. Apparently the city's only got around 50,000 people so I'm chances are, it's probably your guy. Let us know how it turns out.

no i goto college in san marcos. Police told me not to contact the guy and the department might be bidding on it to buy some time

It was kept in excellent condition so no scratches or anything. I'm working on looking up the serial number i had now through escort. Otherwise I hope plan B can just be they run prints on the detector which mine would be all over that **** or run his prints on my car. The details and the persons language just screams I stole this but I know there's still a very good chance i don't get it back. The towns not big and 9500i radar detectors aren't very common because its almost $500 and the fact that its up with only a chord and 1 mount which was exactly what was stolen seems to close to be a coincidence. The police said they will be contacting me in the next hour or so

nah it mounts to the windshield with those suction cup things. I just always take it down when I park the car and i usually put it under the seat. When they broke into my car and stole my xm radio they basically turned the car upside down and ended up finding the radar detector where I hide it. They didn't find my SCT tuner though luckily

no, only other thing i had stolen was an XM Roady XT. I was looking for that on ebay also but the person probably ditched it after I reported it as stolen/fraud its internal radio ID will never work again. The police are pretty interested in the guy since he broke into 4 cars that same night so at least it helps they have interest in finding the guy

yeah i saw that he sold that for $275 which makes it pretty clear all this stuff is stolen because that nav/cd combo is worth much more than $275.

Well not much to update. The police did what I expected them to do which was absolutely nothing. Don't know why they bother doing all the paperwork on police reports and then when they get a big lead like that they choose to just ignore it... oh well. Had the serial # so all they had to do was bid on it like they said they would or contact ebay for the users address.
So after all that the low life cost me $1000 in lost property and pocketed $260 to buy himself some crap.. hopefully he overdoses on $260 worth of drugs

yep because i listened to them and didn't do anything with it.. "to let them do the work".
Pisses me off because crap like this keeps happening. The police here have to start taking this seriously... there have been car break in's once a week recently. I was looking to see if there were any updates on my case but they got another guy breaking into cars in this on campus apartment:
2/20/09 22:31 : A police officer was dispatched to the location for a burglary of a vehicle report. Upon further investigation, a non-student was arrested for burglary of a motor vehicle and possession of marijuana. The non-student was transported to HCLEC awaiting magistration.
about time they got one of these morons they have to start taking crap seriously
