the amount of blind ignorance in this thread baffles me. I can understand someone hearing the entire plane of electronica and deciding "hey it's not for me, but you can listen to it." but claiming that all of it sucks, and it requires no talent to make? reading that just discredits your opinion, obviously demonstrating that you really have no idea what you're talking about. I will never understand why people will not only disregard, but slander something with even being educated on the subject...My buddy is an electronica DJ who masters in breaks and dabbles in jungle (D&B, etc). He's a very talented dude, and can play all but a few instruments (for an 18 year old, his guitar skill level is unparalleled). I've seen the amount of time, and skill he puts into the music he makes with his computer, keyboard, laptop, and a bunch of other weird panel things that I can't even name. It takes a massive amount of talent to be able to make GOOD electronica beats. Sure any retard can program some repetetive snare, bass, and hi hat into a computer and add some crazy synth to make it sound like they know what they're doing. There is a LARGE margin between that and actual good music. But go on...keep beleiving what you want to, no argument could sway your all knowing mind anyways..

I like your argument on this one fishy, but I don't think you can commit slander against a genre of music over the internet. Maybe it's libel?

So what constitutes music? Does it have to have a traditional instrument to be music? Or can it be made from something out of the ordinary, like the guys who make beats on five gallon buckets with sticks. Music is an organization of beats in such a fashion as to provide a rhythm. Any 3rd grader with music class will tell you this. So with that in mind isn't electronic music full of beats and rhythm? regardless of the who, what, when, where and why the beats are made, it's music none the less. So your point about electronic music not being music at all is mute.

okay... consider me corrected...cause those guys in the subways who bang on the buckets do sound pretty good at times...and i guess i have to admit that the bucket becomes an instrument...good point....i shoulda said that i dont consider a guy who presses enter on a keyboard an artist...any collection of sounds can become music...hell if i shoot my gun at different speeds i can do a little dance to it sometimes...but i'm not an artist for doin it

I understand anyone can play an instrument, but not everyone can be skilled in playing. True some techno, trance, or whatever you want to call can be skilled in what they do, but I still would take traditional guitar, bass, and drums andyday over computer and drum machine beats. Thats just my opinion. If your into techno then more power to ya. I just prefer to listen to a band who you can actually watch in a concert instead of some dude dancing around by himself while he presses some buttons on a machine.
