Default AODE to 5 speed swap

Hi, i am new to this site. I enjoy reading. I have a few questions. I want to change my automatic 96 gt to a 5 speed. Is there a changeover kit available? If not where is a good place to purchase the things i need such as the pedals? What transmission will fit my car best ? Can I still use my same crossmember and driveshaft or will those need to be changed also? WHat major challenges will i face while completing this project? will i need to remove the steering column to have access to the pedals? IF so how do i disengage the airbag? ANy help would be appreciated.

kit ... not really. Call up MPS (mustang parts specialties in Winder, GA). They'll take care of you with all the parts you'll need. It's not hard but takes a full day or two to do.

Default I did it

I got all I needed from Midwest Mustangs for $1400, the hardest part was the pedals after that it was a walk in the park
Remove the seat alot easier then the column.

You will need to replace the drive shaft. if you buy from midwest like I did it will come with everything except the pilot bearing then its up to you if you want to use some of the stuff I mention below or buy new

a couple of add ons

You will need a pilot bearing
You will either need to have the fly wheel a that you get used machined or buy a new one (I chose to get a new one)
The Kit I got came with the clutch ( I chose to put in a new one)

We could not get the automatic computer to act right even after removing the codes so I put in the 5 speed computer and had flashed and keys made for the PATS the local ford guy did on the side for $50.00
