3000 seems a little high.. try something like a 2400-2800 stall. Unless you're running a hot cam like a XE274 then 3000 is just a little bit much.

2400 isnt enough at all. Any convertor shop can help you pick a convertor thats good for you. Me i have heard TCi has really come a long way in the last 3 years that there quality is up and well the arent very exspensive make sme wonder if they are any good after all. MM&FF uses there stuff.

factory stall is 1,800. I don't know anyting about TCI, sorry. I have the PI Stallion, mines a single disk with lock up, 3,500 stall with stock cams and seems to do just peachy.

The stall speed refers to the amount of spin before it grabs and goes. When we automatic racing dorks talk about launching you may have noticed the term "flashing" the convertor. This means to simply stomp the pedal in one quick motion. This allows the convertor to spin up to it's stall speed before engaging and grabbing. It's has the same affect as dumping the clutch on a manual.
