Default Rear Brake lights constantly on!!!

I just noticed a few days ago, that when i turn the key to the on position but not started, the brake lights come on and stay on until i turn the key to off. I checked the fuses, swapped the brake switch above the brake pedal. Then i unplugged the brake switch turned the key to on, and the brakes still light up. Has anyone had this problem. It sounds to me like a short somewhere.

are you sure that's the brake lights and not the parking light? Just checking...

well, that made my day. Now i see that my wiring problem isn't as bad as others. That sounds like a wiring nightmare.
Are you going to get a good/used wiring harness or try to redo some of them?
I might have to cut and re-run the brake wiring so i don't have to run the wires down. and i know how some ford wires are, it starts out black with red stripe and it goes into a wire bundle and then when you look after the bundle, there is no black with red stripe, it change colors and you have to find the new color.
