Default VT stage 2 cams?

Is this cam for supercharged motors only? I want to go with a pretty aggresive cam for the sound but mods are getting expensive now. I've pretty well done all the $500 and less mods. The more research I do, I'm starting to think that it is.

They cames for n/a applications as well as superchargered applications in 1-3 stages.

Problem is, I have a particular direction that I want to go with for my car. I want to avoid undoing or changing this mod because of more to come. $. But I really want that chunky sound.

If you're going to put a blower or nitrous on, then you'll want to wait for the chunky sound till you have one of those installed before doing cams. NA cams aren't any good for boosted use and the overlap probably won't make best use of a nitrous system.

Don't do nitrous, too unpredictable. But I have seen some very impressive cars with it. Just not me. Any suggestions are welcome, sound like I can do it, later Kenne Bell and know I can.

I'll disagree on nitrous being unpredictable... it's 100% predictable. People, on the other hand, are not and so a lot of strange things happen. More people blow up motors with blowers than nitrous but the guy with a blower is kinda counting on that as an eventuality.

You want fat power... check out my thread on 5.4L swaps. Or, just lock in a set of VT NA stage 2 cams and a P51 intake. That's a proven combination.

The VT stage 1 and 2 NA cams are both good with nitrous. The P51 is far from proven.

What kind of power would you make with those two?

I agree with most of that. First, just my opinion, nitrous is instant and in it's self creates an unstable situation. As you said people are the most unpredictable part. Don't get me wrong, I love that moment when the button is pushed and jaws drop. Classic! As for supercharged, I agree again. But with a twist. Don't put 20 psi to a 8 psi motor. Sounds a lot like nitrous? A well built charger motor will hold up. I've read some of your posts and you seem to know your stuff. Hope to learn and help.

What kind of power with VT stage 2's and a P51... I know a guy personally who's making like 315 on a mild 2V. Though he does have ported heads. You can realize big hp gains with that setup but it's not at it's best until you add boost or very high RPM.

csn41.... Agreed. The instant hit is my biggest personal problem with nitrous. It's a pretty violent thing when it hits... I've seen a lot of guys lift just as the nitrous hits... probably just a knee jerk reaction but it shows how sudden it is. Putting 20psi in a motor not purpose built for it... those look cool when they shoot motor pieces all over the track.

Ok Ok. I get it. So I'll just put them in the spare bed room with all the other parts that I'm waiting to install. Thanks alot for the info. I was curious because it seemed like the VT's came out of no where. I was also curious if anyone had gone with a different set and wanted to give feed back.

Back to the nitro talk for a sec. Safe nitrous is awsome. But safe is not fast. It's like a drug, you just want a little more. That is until you are picking up what's left of your intake off the road. Besides, I know me, I would probably fill it enough in one year to have bought a supercharger. As for predictability, I have to argue, computer cars alone are not consistant. Air temp, altitude, just a couple of variables that affect performance. And since most of us fight a lean condition every day, lean plus nitro equals external piston inspection.
